Roadhouse Rebels is an Aussie 60's & 70's pub rock blues covers band with the emphasise on sounding like the music from that era using authentic instruments such as Ray Vanderby's 1959 Hammond C3 organ and Leslie rotating speaker. Roadhouse Rebels was founded in 2007 by veteran sideman Hammond organist Ray Vanderby and the band members have had many years experience performing songs from this classic rock blues era both in their own bands as well as being hired as sidemen to some of Australia's top artists including: Blackfeather, Doug Parkinson, Marcia Hines and Stevie Wright. The band is based in Orange NSW and travel throughout the central west performing successful shows in pubs and clubs. Walked in the door around 9pm hahahah ... to see Erther play and say hello ... but the lineup had been bumped around and someone was warming up things with a few tracks ... and when I returned to the floor with a drink ... aniki was playing.

Aniki got the shits pretty early on. The decks weren\\\\\\\'t stable and there was a fair amount of skipping, so he was crashing records togther but it didn\\\\\\\'t matter, as it was in keeping with the theme of the night, loud and raw. He finshed rather early I thought by dropping a Motley Cru track (God I think it was \\\\\\\'Kick Start my Heart\\\\\\\') and cranked it to 11 while he packed up ... Some people in the lounge closed the door in disgust and things were underway, truly a fitting way for the night to start ...

This was the first time I'd been to this venue and I liked it.

A very mixed crowd (good to see in Sydney)

and some nice dark electro-influenced drum&bass when I arrived

(I like that stuff much more than the stuff they played later on)

Has anyone else been hearing a beautiful new song called "Flicker" by the group Saucy Monky? I just heard it over here in Ireland on Today FM (Ireland's national radio) this morning and it's BEAUTIFUL! It's a love(lost) ballad, and Cynthia Catania (the lead singer on it) is kinda like Chrissie Hynde, I guess you'd say. Her voice is really soothing and sexy, I find, but it's also mature and you can feel the emotion behind it. It's my fave track off their album, which I JUST HAD TO go and buy after hearing it on the radio so much. And I'm a freakin' poor college kid - so go figure. Wow, I actually SUPPORTED an artist instead of stealing the track from online...so F**K you, RIAA!! :-) Plus, the disc was dirt-cheap. it's an 9-track mini-album EP that is selling for something ridiculous at HMV and Tower for like 9.99 EURO (that's what I got mine for anyway) and I see it's available on their site for the same price but in US dollars!

Lifted from their 'No Rest' album released in May 08, independent Hip Hop/ Rock eight piece Casual Projects emerge from the nations capital with their oh so catchy third single 'Time'. Having grabbed the attention of radio and TV with their first two singles earlier this year, there is no doubt that 'Time' will be hot property in the tick of a clock.

Setting the bench-mark high, Casual Projects' first single 'Move Along' earned the band a position as one of the winners of the International Songwriting Competition in the top 15 songs of the pop category ahead of 15,000 others. It then went on to be selected as a Rage 'Indie Clip of the Week' and was flogged by Channel V on their 'New Stock' show. The band took their show on the road between April and July doing twenty-six shows including a sell-out performance in Canberra attended by 600 die-hard fans.

The party was a terrific celebration of over a year's hard work. Recording began on the album during March of 2007. Tim had located the independent production team of Counter Clockwise Music through an association with Mike Stephens who hosts a podcast in Wayne, MI. Producer Mark Meisel heard the track 'Renegade' on Mike's podcast and became interested in contacting Tim.

That's how the story begins. The rest, as they say, is history. The collaboration between Tim Young Band; Tim Young, rhythm guitar and lead vocals; and Sand Edwards, drums; and all involved from Counter Clockwise has been, in my humble opinion, a smashing success.

Over the last decade the Academy has hosted incredible collaborations between legendary music makers and up and coming producers in metropolises like Melbourne, New York, Sao Paulo and Cape Town.
