BROAD

BROAD is back!

Five brilliant female artists backed by a hot band led by the incomparable James Black (Rockquiz) take to the stage, performing a compelling mix of well-known, and soon to be known, original songs.

The consummate Deborah Conway is joined by Nashville-based country/rock guitar player Anne McCue, New Buffalo mastermind Sally Seltman, R&B soul diva Jade MacRae (Channel 7's 'It Takes Two') and this year's winner of the WA's Best Female Artist (WAMI) and Fuzz front woman, Abbe May.

After delighting audiences with the debut tour of Broad in 2005, Deborah Conway has continued to provide Australian music lovers with a feast of talent on stage together in 2006 and 2007. Ruby Hunter, Katie Noonan, Clare Bowditch and Ella Hooper are some of the diverse singer-songwriters who have shared their music in Broad.

This year promises to again showcase the amazing depth and warmth of contemporary songwriters in Australia.

Five extraordinary artists, five unique styles, one great concert

EaterWire: Edison's 35-cent Martini Night, The Park's Vacati Eater LA

DOWNTOWN: Hey, drunks, see what happens when you can't control yourselves: For those who went to Edison's very cool 35-cent martini promotion on Thursdays and ordered nine cocktails all at once so you can slam them before the happy hour ended, those days are gone. You can still get the 35-cent martinis but it's now limited to one per customer and you can only get one with the Buffalo nickel they hand you at the door. Each week features a guest bartender and specialty cocktail, too. [EaterWire] ECHO PARK: Along with their weekend specials (fatoush salad, sesame-crusted tuna, etc.), The Park sends a note about vacation time: "We will be closed starting August 4th and will reopen August 13th with our late summer/early fall menu." Mark it down. [EaterWire] LITTLE TOKYO: We'll have to start calling it Little Seoul: Angelenic is reporting that Korean grocer H Mart is in talks to replace Mitsuwa Marketplace in the Little Tokyo Shopping Center. A group of Korean-Americans bought the center in May, so this isn't

The Gawker Wasted 20 [Celebrity Science] Gawker

It's shaping up as a cruel summer for drunk, high or otherwise messed up celebrities trying to stay on the straight and narrow. Comedian Andy Dick was arrested this week for groping a 17-year-old's breasts while in possession of marijuana and Valium, in something of a reprise of his bust last year for doing blow in a nightclub. Actress and teen rehab veteran Drew Barrymore is now reported to have boozed her way to a breakup with actor Justin Long. Heather Locklear fled "depression and anxiety" rehab in Arizona after barely two weeks. Even a Rolling Stone, Ronnie Wood, surrendered himself to rehab again after leaving his wife for a 19-year-old cocktail waitress — and two bottles of vodka per day. Maybe all that summer daylight is pushing everyone over the edge! In any case, it's tough to keep track of who's where on the customary arc of high-profile substance abuse: embarrassment, criminality, rock-bottom desperation, rehabilitation and then either another trip around the circle or a break into the freed
