| | | Blog Entry | In todays society we know that the moral fiber of our communities is in peril. Why then, do we not protect our children? We have a responsibility to safeguard our most vulnerable; instead, we prematurely catapult them into a world they are not mature enough to handle and destroy their innocence. Frequently, I am asked by parents and friends of aspiring stars to offer my opinion about getting their child into show business. Recently my publicist, Marsha Friedman, President of Event Management sent me the following question: After the performance I spoke with her mom (who was in tears the whole time) about their incredible daughter and her future. Their daughter's dream is to be on stage singing professionallyI said I would forward some information to you - to get your thoughts. After much contemplation, I wrote to the parents (excerpt): Read More... |

| | Jaci Rae | News Item | Relationship…for some that word stirs up fears of commitment and for others it conjures up the idea of ever lasting love. For many on the dating scene ‘ever lasting love’ is their ultimate goal but how do you find someone to go on a date with and once you do how do you go from date to relationship? While the person you’re dating may be looking for Mr. or Mrs. Right, they may not be looking for Mr. or Mrs. Right now, meaning pull in the reins and go a little slower. But let’s start at the beginning instead of jumping straight to the finish line. Let’s get back to the basics. To get back to basics, let’s start with a history lesson. Theyre a band that confounds the critic, offering forth both luscious post-rock shades and dynamic math-core sidesteps, and the whole is always considerably more arresting than the sum of its parts. Based in Hereford, the young instrumental sextet have begun to turn the right kind of industry heads, with Q magazine recently featuring them on its pages and celebrated indie label Big Scary Monsters stepping up to release a track of theirs on a recent unsigned compilation. A run through some of the acts theyve supported gives one some idea of what sort of noise to expect: 65daysofstatic, Future Of The Left, Rolo Tomassi, Grammatics, Forward Russia, Tubelord, Pulled Apart By Horses all have shared stages with Talons and lived to tell the tale. His endless quest continues... You grew up in Harlem? I was born in Harlem. I grew up in New England. My mother was American and my father was from the Caribbean, and there was a big open door into the world of humanity and music. I think because my dad and my mother were both very positive about us culturally as young people growing up, we didnt grow up with the same kind of pressure on top of us to not represent culturally and were culturally diverse. The music came from everywhere, but there was some really deep, resounding styles and types that seemed to be traditional as well as connected from our recent past into our ancient past. | | clashmusic.com Music Features and Interviews with | Syndicated | In a sea of monochrome indie acts, Micachu And The Shapes drift by like a neon-coloured piece of driftwood. Since releasing her free download mixtape Filthy Friends last year, band lynchpin Mica Levi has watched in amazement as her music has steadily found a larger and larger audience. Blending pop with grime and leftfield electronica, she has even crafted her own instruments in an effort to capture the crazy sounds she hears in her head. Rebelling against a classical background, the singer fell in with a group of beat-heads, who fired her imagination. Micachu And The Shapes " in which Mica is joined by Marc Pell and Raisa Khan " released their debut album Jewellery earlier this year on Rough Trade (REVIEW). A cut n paste collage vision of British pop music in the 21st Century, it reeks of breathtaking ambition and daring. | | EFF.org Updates | Syndicated | Today, United States District Court Chief Judge Vaughn Walker took the government to task for failing to obey his prior orders in Al-Haramain v. Obama (formerly known as Al-Haramain v. Bush), asking the government to explain why he should not sanction the government by holding that the plaintiffs win the warrantless wiretapping lawsuit. On January 5, Chief Judge Walker had denied the government's third motion to dismiss the Al-Haramain litigation and set up a process to allow the Al Haramain plaintiffs to prosecute the case while protecting classified information. On February 28, 2009, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals denied the government's appeal of that order. The government did not seek an appeal to the Supreme Court. Today, the Court noted the government was "continuing to assert legal positions already specifically rejected by the court in previous orders" and "government officials in one or more defendant agencies, including the NSA Director ... are refusing to cooperate with the courts orders." uk Read More... |
