Wu-Tang Clan - 8 Diagrams JM

This is not a mirage; the original Wu-Tang Clan line-up is indeed back with their fourth group effort, 8 Diagrams. With a hungry fan-base waiting to be satiated and looking to them as a solution to Hip Hop's current conundrum and following the tragic passing of Russell 'Ol' Dirty Bastard' Jones, the Wu have a large legacy to live up to, can they do it? Well, yes and no.

JAMIE LLOYD Future Classic Press Release
News Item
The second instalment of remixes from Jamie Lloyd's debut album Trouble Within come courtesy of the excellent Drumpoet Community collective from Switzerland. The Drumpoet releases have been getting high rotation in the Future Classic offices since the beginning and its a pleasure to again make a new connection between our base in Sydney and another part of the world.

The Soultourist boat is crewed by Philippe Wger (Thabo), Tobi (Foster), Ron Shiller, and Pascal Dubach (Big Clap), with the rowing done in shifts. The four met while DJing and hanging out at parties realizing that their cases were packed with nearly the same records and that they shared a common musical vision. Soultourist's first 12" was released on the Sonar Kollektiv after which they have contributed releases to Swiss label Bit Boutique and now of course the newly founded Zrich based Drumpoet Community label with their excellent Yeah! and Turn Loose EP's.

The Soultourist remix of Jamie Lloyd's You Out or In? is all class, with th

FAX * ps081132 * Thomas P. Heckmann * The Lost Tales Vol. 1  Humpty Records New Releases

Between 1990 and 2008, Thomas P. Heckmann produced and recorded several hundred tracks, released countless singles and CDs and made his name in Techno / Electro / Minimal / Industrial / EBM / Ambient / Acid and so on, but this series on FAX consists of the tracks that, for whatever reason, were never released, but were favorites of Heckmann and the people around him. These tracks show the other side of Thomas where his influences are the 60s and obscure music, a side which has not been heard since the mid 90s via his Drax project. So take a seat, dim the lights, get a fancy drink and listen openly to the little gems and analogue escapades from the man and his instruments ! http://www.humpty.de?id=47&aid=15464&lang=en

As any recording geek knows, zero dB is the optimum level for recording. Yet the duo who have taken this studio jargon as their moniker place no limit on their production other than to flap ears, trigger nods and shake tail feathers wherever and whenever it+#65533;s played. Rewind to September 2006, when 'Bongos, Bleeps + Basslines' hits the streets sprinting, hurdling genres and kicking its analogue spikes into the bland face of all who stand in its path. This debut artist album, +#65533;Ninja Tune's best release ever+#65533; according to Trevor Jackson, had dirty jazz+bassmeisters zero dB propelled overground long enough to tour their bangers and mash it up at parties around the world, before burrowing back underground. It's from here that Chris Vogado (one of the dBs and Mr. Fluid Ounce, the label that launched these boys back in 1999 with 'Come Party') has masterminded the remix album, 'Heavyweight Gringos'. Vogado approached 27 members of the Fluid Ounce Friends + Familia crew plus Ninja and Big Dada sta

We like to announce ANTONELLI's new album "Soulkiller". It is Stefan Schwander's aka ANTONELLI's 6th album and was produced using analogue drummachines, synthesizers and sequencers only and recorded live without any overdubs onto an old-school TAPE recorder. The result is amazing: ANTONELLI's House music on "Soulkiller" is so incredibly rough and emotional that it reminds of the Garage Rock from the "Stooges". And the tracks sound as if "ESG" was doing cover versions of "Moodymann". Moreover, you will find flamboyant Pop references, from "Bohannon" to "Terry Hall". http://www.humpty.de?id=47&aid=14748&lang=en

Claro Intelecto: Metanarrative Gridface
Syndicated
Modern Love, 2008 I’ve enjoyed this album often over the past few weeks. Metanarrative opens with “Operation,” pure UK techno with warm synth tones and a reverberating two-note query. But “Harsh Reality” is where things really pick up. The bass is sweet as honey. Bells and minor chord tones reference the golden age of intelligent techno, combining melody with a dance beat. “Innocence” and “Before My Eyes” are more subdued. Both play with deep, old-school house basslines. “Gone to the Dogs” is a tech-house/dub techno hybrid which almost seems out of place after the first four tracks. It is dark and edgy and a little too dry. Likewise, “Nodrex” is hard and cold in comparison to the more analogue-sounding pieces which precede it. Thankfully “Dependent,” previously released as a single-sided white label, offers a return to retro sounds, with a Speak & Spell saying, “Rhythm,” over repetitive keys, low register p

JOHN FOXX & LOUIS GORDON Australia Tour 2008 As founder and former front man of Ultravox! until 1979, and subsequently via his solo projects, John Foxx's work has helped pave the way for a generation of electronic musicians. His debut album, 1980's Metamatic, is today regarded of one of the most pioneering albums in electronic music and created a new wave blueprint for the likes of The Human League, Gary Numan, Duran Duran and, in more recent years, The Faint to follow. Metamatic hit a cultural vein again 20 years later when Ladytron, Adult, Tiga and co were drawn to its minimalist, analogue approach. read more

With the outstanding success of the two first 'Mixing' compilations from Jazzanova and me, it would be a hard task finding the next artist that could bring something special for the third in the series, and keep raising the bar - enter Dennis McFarlane (aka Dego) of 4hero. On 'Mixing', 4hero investigate their musical influences; past, present and future. Things start off on a funky note with Bootsy Collins (who played earlier on in his career in James Brown's band) and the infectious P-funk of 'Fat Cat'. Detroit hip hop is covered with the incredible 'Game Over' and the inimitable J Dilla's 'Over The Breaks', taken from his legendary posthumous album The Shining. Then it's back in time with the electronic music of composer and inventor Raymond Scott, regarded by many as a major influence for musicians such as Robert Moog, Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada. This childish atmosphere is broken with the disco-funk of 'High Noon' by Two Sisters from the Carrere imprint of 1983, made of analogue drum beats and keybo
