You haven't seen a show till you've seen ILL BILL perform. Next week, the infamous rapper is set to land in Australia for the first time and deliver a knockout blow with five adrenaline charged shows across the country.

A former member of respected hip hop crew Non Phixion, ILL BILL is touring on the back of his forthcoming album 'The Hour of Reprisal', which features collaborations with the best in the hip hop and metal biz, including Raekwon the Chef (Wu-Tang Clan), B-Real (Cypress Hill), Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage), Max Cavalera (Soulfly/Sepultura), Everlast (House of Pain) and of course brother Necro.

Joining ILL BILL on stage will be fellow Non Phixion rep DJ Eclipse (former Rock Steady Crew DJ) and Big Left from La Coka Nostra (of which ILL BILL is also a member), ensuring the night will be one of the most memorable hip hop shows of the year.

This is not a mirage; the original Wu-Tang Clan line-up is indeed back with their fourth group effort, 8 Diagrams. With a hungry fan-base waiting to be satiated and looking to them as a solution to Hip Hop's current conundrum and following the tragic passing of Russell 'Ol' Dirty Bastard' Jones, the Wu have a large legacy to live up to, can they do it? The second instalment of remixes from Jamie Lloyd's debut album Trouble Within come courtesy of the excellent Drumpoet Community collective from Switzerland. The Drumpoet releases have been getting high rotation in the Future Classic offices since the beginning and its a pleasure to again make a new connection between our base in Sydney and another part of the world.

The Soultourist boat is crewed by Philippe Wger (Thabo), Tobi (Foster), Ron Shiller, and Pascal Dubach (Big Clap), with the rowing done in shifts. The four met while DJing and hanging out at parties realizing that their cases were packed with nearly the same records and that they shared a common musical vision. Modern Love, 2008 I’ve enjoyed this album often over the past few weeks. Metanarrative opens with “Operation,” pure UK techno with warm synth tones and a reverberating two-note query. But “Harsh Reality” is where things really pick up. The bass is sweet as honey. Bells and minor chord tones reference the golden age of intelligent techno, combining melody with a dance beat. “Innocence” and “Before My Eyes” are more subdued. Both play with deep, old-school house basslines. “Gone to the Dogs” is a tech-house/dub techno hybrid which almost seems out of place after the first four tracks. It is dark and edgy and a little too dry. Likewise, “Nodrex” is hard and cold in comparison to the more analogue-sounding pieces which precede it.
