Harry Manx is a musician who blends blues, folk music, and Hindustani classical music. He was born in the Isle of Man, British Isles, where he spent his childhood, and now lives on Saltspring Island, British Columbia, Canada.

He plays the slide guitar, harmonica, six-string banjo, Mohan veena and Ellis stomp box. He studied for five years in India with Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.

Melic are a four-piece band based in London. Their sound is derived from an eclectic blend of musicians - fusing a funk-rock bassist, a classically trained pianist/saxophonist, a metal drummer and a singer/song-writer guitarist. Melic, The Call-Up, The Hookz Melic are a four-piece band based in London. Their sound is derived from an eclectic blend of musicians - fusing a funk-rock bassist, a classically trained pianist/saxophonist, a metal drummer and a singer/song-writer guitarist.

The group formed late 2008 and have since recorded two independent EPs and have a third one on the way - due for release in November 2011. Melic have worked hard at establishing a strong and loyal following by performing at many notable venues around the capital, including Scala, The Borderline, The Grand, The 100 Club, Cargo and Barfly to name a few.

Having spent the last year studying in Prague, this young British quartet begin their programme with Janacek's intensely passionate and evocative first string quartet

This popular quartet sits proudly among the wonderfully rich musical tradition of the Czech Republic, and The Evropska Quartet were fortunate enough to study the work with the Skampa Quartet whilst in Prague, who themselves have a great lineage extending back to the composer himself

Following this will be Schumann's first string quartet in A minor, one of only three works he wrote for string quartet, composed in just one month during a period of manic creativity in 1842

The Berkeley Ensemble continues its series of composer portraits at the Forge with the chamber works of Sir Malcolm Arnold to celebrate the ninetieth anniversary of his birth. The Berkeley Ensemble There will be a pre-concert talk at 6pm.

The performance starts at 7pm.

Remembered today for his colourful orchestral scores, Malcolm Arnold wrote eloquently for smaller forces in a series of chamber works of surprising intimacy.

Join the ensemble in a journey through Arnold's neglected chamber legacy, from the Oboe Quartet - by turns serene and comical - to his haunted masterpiece, the String Quartet no.

The songwriter-composer performs his latest opus 'Fields and birds and Things' with his 20-piece ensemble and films by the artist Andy Holden. A treat for fans of the music of Morricone, Nyman and Glass, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Nick Cave. The Johnny Parry Chamber Orchestra Johnny Parry's debut album 'break your little heart' was recorded in Toronto, Canada in 2004 with a collection of underground musicians discovered on the streets and clubs of the city, and was the first release on Lost Toys Records.

Back in his native Bedfordshire The Johnny Parry Trio was formed to reinterpret the songs for live shows around the UK.

While Parry boomins, growls and whispers over his piano, he is accompanied by Ben Milway on drums and Dave Lynch on bass, alongside projections of short films made by the artist Andy Holden. The second album ‘Songs Without a Purpose' (2007) was influenced as much by ideas from the soundtracks of Morricone, Nyman and Glass as songwriters like Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and Tom Waits.
