Roadhouse Rebels is an Aussie 60's & 70's pub rock blues covers band with the emphasise on sounding like the music from that era using authentic instruments such as Ray Vanderby's 1959 Hammond C3 organ and Leslie rotating speaker. Roadhouse Rebels was founded in 2007 by veteran sideman Hammond organist Ray Vanderby and the band members have had many years experience performing songs from this classic rock blues era both in their own bands as well as being hired as sidemen to some of Australia's top artists including: Blackfeather, Doug Parkinson, Marcia Hines and Stevie Wright. The band is based in Orange NSW and travel throughout the central west performing successful shows in pubs and clubs. **UNDERCOVER DETECTIVES IN 'ALL' CLUBS AT SURFERS PARADISE QLD & POSITIONED SOUROUNDING AREAS** Last weekend (15/09/07) I arrived at surfers around 12:30am, dropped my stuff off at the hotel and met with friends at the nearest club on Cavill Ave, the first night I noticed 6-7 kiddies off their faces being hand cuffed and taken to the station (not drunk and had no idea what they got themselves into), the second night was the worst, their were undercover 30-40 yr old men giving signals to girls (18-24 yrs old) to talk to anyone potentially on drugs, their were guys 20-25 yrs old (pretending – looking totally like ravers) to drink beer or coloured flasks scoping out people and sms back to one main person within each club, I saw people taking advantage by giving money to little kiddys (who had no idea) and ‘climing up the chain’ for the source, as we left we went to the second club on ‘Orchid Ave’, as soon as we walked in there were 8-9 undercovers standing around sms each o

Michael Morph has been busy readying his much-anticipated album for Pure Mint, and here is the leadoff single Go Cat Go!.

Built around a mirth-making robotic voice intoning the familiar lyric from rock 'n' roll standard, 'Blue Suede Shoes', this catchy fidgety electro cut almost recalls Daft Punk in its skilful use of a simple-yet-deadly computerised vocal. With plenty of freaky noises and an absurdly infectious pitching bassline to satisfy the headz, this is a welcome return to the fray from somebody tipped by all the dance press as a DJ/producer to watch.

A push by Australian record companies to make clubs, hotels, restaurants and cafes pay tens of millions of dollars more in fees charged to play music has backfired with clubs

deciding to turn off music licensed by the major record labels.

Clubs Australia has announced at their annual general meeting a new scheme that will allow clubs to bypass the license fee charged by record companies. Clubs Australia will set-up a program to source and distribute the music of artists not signed to major record labels and who are consequently exempt from the restaurant tariff.

As part of the new scheme, local musicians will be given the opportunity to sell their music in clubs while money earned from the sale of background music CDs will be used to establish a fund for talented Australian musicians.

The Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA) will from December be increasing the tariff required every year by all clubs, hotels, restaurants and cafes wanting to play background music. Under their new pricing

A couple of years back Lightsounds pioneered a way for our customers to release their own original music via the Circuit Breaker CD. With a nationwide callout we received hundreds of entries from all over Australia and even from ex-pats living in Japan and the UK. The debut Circuit Breaker CD established a new standard in home grown electronic compilations when released in 2007. I was excited to listen to another Aussie R&B singer doing well... until I heard her album.Felicia Alima's album Know Me, features mostly boring music coupled with a vocal style that sounds like a direct rip off of Ciara. It is very hard to take this album seriously. In fact, her opening song Know Me starts exactly the same way lyrically as Ciara’s massive single “, 2, Step. I wouldn’t say the album is completely awful. I mean, I did find one track that I dug. The fourth track on the album I’m Down is an acoustic guitar inspired bouncy club-friendly joint featuring rapper Phoenix.
