Stefan Schwander is a Dsseldorf-based artist who's had his hand in a variety of projects since the early '90s, from groups like Pop Up (with Jrg Burger) to solo efforts as A Rocket in Dub, Repeat Orchestra, Rhythm Maker and Antonelli Electr. among others. Harmonious Thelonious is his most recent endeavor. Described by the artist himself as "American minimalism vs. African drumming vs. European sequencing," the project's sound is dense, percussive and hypnotic. Listens comes just over a year after the first Harmonious Thelonious album, fittingly titled Talking. As with that LP, it will see release on the Cologne label Italic. As of January 4th, 2012 I have been a resident of New York City for two years. It is common knowledge in NYC that you must be living here for ten years to call yourself a real New Yorker. I may only be 20% of the way there, but Ive learned quite a bit about the nuances of Manhattan life.

Like many women I have seen every episode of Sex and the City. Yes, Im going there. Anyway, there is an episode called "Anchors Away" in which Carrie plans a day with her city. She tries to go to the Guggenheim, but its closed. As she leaves the museum it starts raining and she ends up soaked from head to toe. Carrie ducks into a diner where the manager screams at her to sit at the bar because shes a single diner. What started as a fun day with her city ends in exhaustion. Later in the episode while trying to forget the horrible day she had, Carrie attends a Fleet Week party. There she meets a Southern Navy seaman who speaks unfavorably about New York. She replies, No
