A musical comedy show featuring comedian Michael Connell Comedians Michael Connell, Jay Sullivan, Tom Gibson, & The Stevenson Experience Guitarist Jonno Zilber THE BLUES - A musical comedy show featuring Michael Connell

Blues music and comedy; at first sight it would seem to be a strange mix. One makes you cry, the other makes you laugh. However mixing them together is just what Comedian and Harmonica player Michael Connell is planning to do in a new comedy show. "I've been doing comedy for over eight years, and playing the Harmonica for the last four, and I've always kept my comedy and music very separate," Michael explains. "However, recently I've begun to notice there's a lot of similarities between the Blues and Comedy. For me, they're both about taking something negative, like being poor or getting cheated on, and turning it into something positive like music or laughter."

Titled, appropriately enough, "The Blues", the show will run at The Street Theatre in mid September. As a comedian Michael h

Wednesday 24th June 2009

Comedy Store at the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park

From struggling comic to 'Conan' almost overnight, Boston's Shane Mauss - heralded the Next Big Thing on the global comedy circuit, will headline exclusively at the Comedy Store - Entertainment Quarter. The two week run from Wednesday 24 June through to Saturday 4 July will be his first-ever Australian debut. Shane has been on the tip of US show-business tongues since winning Best Comedian at 2007's HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. And has appeared three times on 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien', Comedy Central, Showtime and BBC's The World Stands Up; joining the ranks of previous award winners like Tim Minchin & Kristen Schaal.

The boy from Boston has been best described as "an innocent everyman with a hedonistic streak". His explicit jokes about sex, getting drunk on the job and strange audition experiences make for brilliant stand-up yarns. With a look of more of farmhand than comedian - 'a tall, gangly, lank haired boy, with thick-tongued speech', says one critic from his hometown; is bril

Nothing like it in Australia. A night of comedy unforgettable for audiences and comics alike. Wicked!

The ever-popular Rash Ryder will referee this round of Red Card Comedy. Theres no comedy night like it. A sophisticated gong show, it is an Australian first. The surprises start from the time the audience pick up their tickets and continue until the final gong. Sixteen up-and-coming comics each will try to keep the audience laughing for five minutes. Three random audience members will be given red cards. When two of the judges hold up their red cards, the comic is gonged off. Other audience members will be urged to become involved, encouraging the judges to put up their cards, or if the comic is a favourite, to take them down. Last man (or woman) standing is the winner. In the event of a tie there will be a comedy shootout with audience acclamation determining the winner. It promises to be a great night of fun and frivolity. Tickets $22. I just arrived today on this site seeking fellow musos to rock out with in my band Old MenWith Retrievers the name coming from seeing so many old men andtheir dogs wanderign around Moonee Ponds where I used to hang out sometimes fuck knows why....I'd meet people there and stuff but it's all a blur...I live in St Kilda it's boring and depressing with everythign so expensive I have no social life! Thus I am a muso and comic. Though the comedy leaves me a bit bitter at times...Ibelieve music has savedmy life I stand by that. As so many do. I brought a guitar which I can play not greatly but enough to produce something of a song...A rough grungy punk deidcation to the creepy guys who try to pick meup on the 96 called 'I'm over it' I love it. It's the first song I produced on my own even if it is a bit roughbut it sounds cool that way.anyway we shall see what the future may bring...... cheers Rosie one of many rosies.....

Walked in the door around 9pm hahahah ... to see Erther play and say hello ... but the lineup had been bumped around and someone was warming up things with a few tracks ... and when I returned to the floor with a drink ... aniki was playing.

Aniki got the shits pretty early on. The decks weren\\\\\\\'t stable and there was a fair amount of skipping, so he was crashing records togther but it didn\\\\\\\'t matter, as it was in keeping with the theme of the night, loud and raw. He finshed rather early I thought by dropping a Motley Cru track (God I think it was \\\\\\\'Kick Start my Heart\\\\\\\') and cranked it to 11 while he packed up ... Some people in the lounge closed the door in disgust and things were underway, truly a fitting way for the night to start ...
