During the recently held Hip Hop Political Convention we had an explosive panel that addressed the issue of Electoral Politics and how they intersect with Hip Hop music and Culture. We wound talking specifically about the impact or lack of impact Hip Hop organizations have on the voting process.

Hey all you fuzzies out there! You wanna DJ at a fur con? You think you can make tails shake and heads bob? Well you're in luck! Furry Connection North is looking for DJs to fill slots for our 2009 convention being held in Novi, Michigan April 24th to the 26th.

What are we looking for?

We are not only looking for DJs that spin the usual stuff, we want DJs that can get the crowd moving and keep them that way. We want someone who knows how to give the crowd what they want. Additionally, we want to fill three major categories: Fursuit friendly, electronic, and swing. Yes, that's right, I said "swing." If you have the DJ skills and swing collection that includes more than just The Big Bad Voodoo Daddies, then we want you.

What equipment will FCN support?

We can hook up anything from dual turn tables, to PC, any combination there of! FCN will not, however, be able to supply mixing equipment. Every DJ will be required to bring their own rig.

Oklacon is still in need of some skilled DJs to help Us keep the music playing all night long! Oklacon is a convention in Watonga OK, and unlike ANY convention you will ever attend! This I can vouch for. I am looking for some skilled people that were already planning on attending, or were curious about it, or were looking for a way to break out into the fandoms DJ scene. Ill consider all applicants!

Are you a DJ? Anthrocon is looking for talented and skilled DJs to help keep the party going each night of the convention! (Thursday, Friday, Saturday).

Anthrocon requires audition mixes to be sent in by any DJs interested in performing at the convention.*

Rules for audition submissions:

1. Your mix must be 30-90 minutes in length

2. Your mix should showcase the genre of music you want to play

3. Beatmatching and Phrasematching is not required, but will factor into the selection process

4. Please include details on the equipment you use, and whether you would need Anthrocon to provide anything (mixers, turntables, adapters, cables, etc)

5. Please specify if you are auditioning for the traditional ballroom dances, or the "Fursuit Friendly" alternative dance, or both.

The deadline for auditions is December 1st 2008**. Any submissions sent in after this date will NOT be considered.

This week (July 30-Aug 3rd) Las Vegas will play host to the 3rd National Hip Hop Political Convention. We sat down with Troy Nkrumah who heads up that organization to get a rundown as to what we should expect at this historic gathering.

The best that can ever be said of the Clinton consultants turned pundits is that they're right except for all the times they're wrong. That's certainly the case with Dick Morris, who previously said a conniving Hillary had the nomination in the bag, then adopted an air of insider omniscience in setting everyone right as to Obama's sure-thing triumph. As for the other chubby triangulator on speed-dial, Mark Penn is wrong even when he's right, and he's hardly ever that. As Hillary's chief political strategist, he thought using the word "cocaine" repeatedly on television by way of denying his camp was trying to portray Obama as a cokehead was subliminally savvy. It was not. He thought focusing on all the big states and ignoring the little ones with caucuses meant an easy glide to the Denver convention. It did not.
