Lowrider - Diamond Amongst The Thieves JM
News Item
With Australian music getting better and better all the time it’s a rare privilege to review an Australian album that is truly incredible. Lowrider has produced Diamond Amongst The Thieves and have not only hit a home run, but they’ve knocked the ball way out of the park! From the moment this album starts, you would never think that firstly Lowrider is Australian, and secondly that they are white. Lead singer Joe Braithwaite has an incredibly soulful and dramatic voice made for funk/soul/blues/hip hop and I know you’ll agree. If there is a group that should be flying the Australian music flag right now, it should be Lowrider. For more of this review please check out: http://www.planeturban.com.au/album_reviews/album_lowrider_diamond_amongst_the_thieves

Somehow in the process of life itself I've become jazzy..."Royal Jones a Dear in the Head Lights"-

In the trendy east village of Manhattan you'll find the self anointed king of quirk' funk poet Royal Jones. He is going from door to door hanging his promo posters and giving away free CDs and eye catching business cards. All this in the hopes of garnering a sale or two of his new CD which was recorded in NYC in 2007 at East Side sound studios. Engineered by Marc

Urselli. It was released April 11 2008.No balloons, no fan fare. just a few novenas from the Salesian sisters of e12 st and Avenue A"Yes that's me in the Royal Jones Tee shirttrying to enticeI wouldn't say I'm desperate but I'd hate to think I recorded this wonderful CD in vain. I simply have no management or promotional skills. I am no spring chicken either"Jones stresses

The Hard Sell Fuzzy News
News Item
Masters of hip-hop and Turntablism in their own right, DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist have joined forces for the first time since 2001 and are bringing their genre-defying project, The Hard Sell, down under in April.

Following in the footsteps of their legendary Brainfreeze and Product Placement sets, Shadow and Cut Chemist are set to amaze Australian audiences with a daring and complex performance that sees them live on stage with 8 turntables (yes 8!), 4 mixers and an array of audio and video equipment, tricks and gadgets. Needless to say their show is beyond normal musical and technical expectations with trickery that very few DJs would even attempt.

This is the first time DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist have performed together in Australia and it is truly something special and unique.

Flaunting rules with a flawless blend of music from all eras that won't leave you saying "been there, heard that" these two cutting-edge Californians are the best tag-team since Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker - this is real

Losing Mind with Data Recovery parkoskar
News Item
For nearly all computer users, losing data can be a very traumatic experience. If you use your computer for a business or for other important matters, it can be very stressful and very traumatic to lose everything you have worked months, and possibly even years to build.

Even though you may back up your data on a periodic basis, you’ll still need to check the backup to make sure that everything works. Nothing can be worse than backing something up, only to find months later that something went wrong.

No matter who you are, or what business you work for, data loss can happen. Computers are great, although they aren’t perfect. Over time, your hard drive can crash or malfunction, which will result in the loss of everything you have stored on your computer.

Whenever this happens to you, it’s always a good thing there’s data recovery. Without data recovery, it wouldn’t be possible to retrieve files, recover information, or simply get back to the data you spent years building.

Outside In Torontoist

Just off West Queen West, around the corner from 48 Abell and the Drake Hotel, on the wall of a long blue warehouse complex that is supposed to come down shortly to make room for a condo, stands Mr. Loogie. It's a faade in more ways than one. A constructed storefront for a constructed store, you walk in through its front door and find yourself in the workspace of an artist, with wood and construction materials"along with Bell telephones"everywhere. As you exit through what would be the back of the small store, you are taken out into a long and wide warehouse that has been converted into a city street, with fake storefronts on both sides, fake tags and graffiti on the walls, and a real TTC streetcar shelter and bus stop standing tall. A Viacom billboard advertising "Condos for Babies" hangs on the south wall. The work of Dan Bergeron (Fauxreel) and Gabriel Reese (Specter), A City Renewal Project brings the outside in and turns what's inside back out to comment on the change going on on streets across th

Around the time we snapped this photo a reader's query hit the inbox: "I heard the 1933 Group was going to open a new Bigfoot Lodge? Is this true? Are they moving the existing one?" Yes and no. Per the change of ownership notice, Bigfoot Lodge West will take the Rae's space on Venice Boulevard. Confirmed from Bobby Green himself: "It's something I have always wanted to do, and I think the westside would really appreciate it." Don't expect Mounties, fake fireplaces and National Park signs just yet---Rae's is still filled with drinkers on sunny afternoons, just as any beloved dive bar should be; Bigfoot construction won't start until early 2009, with a summer debut. And Bigfoot Lodge in Atwater Village isn't going anywhere so you can get Dudley Do-Rights and Girl Scout Cookies any time you want.
