New World/Folk/Roots duo Bethany & Rufus along with Fulani flutist Yacouba Moumouni and Afro Haitian drummer 'Bonga' Jean-Baptiste will release a new CD, entitled "Live A Fip" on October 22, 2009. The Bethany & Rufus Roots Quartet "Live A Fip" CD features 12 tracks, and will debut in Europe on the Daqui Records label.

The "Live A Fip" CD release was a natural extension of Bethany & Rufus' collaborations with Jean-Baptiste and Moumouni. Bethany & Rufus, who share the same label with Moumouni, also shared the stage with him for one song during the 10th anniversary celebration of Daqui Records. They knew instantly that their political beliefs and musical chemistry would bond them together, catapulting them forward with continued performances. The trio became a quartet when 'Bonga' Jean-Baptiste was invited to perform with them the following summer at Les Nuits Atypique. I rely on a lot of different applications and utilities to keep this web site running and the free music flowing. Here I have compiled a list of some of the more important software that I use to publish music and maintain this web site. This list is for my reference as much as yours; I will be referring back to this post whenever I am travelling and wish to update the site remotely. Anyone reading could do the same—although I will need to make another post detailing my work-flow to properly convey knowledge of how I prepare releases for publication. For now, here is the raw list of (mostly freeware) tools that I use to keep Ektoplazm alive (in alphabetical order): 7 Zip – for compressing and decompressing release packages and other goodies. I also suggest looking into WinRAR but it’s not totally free. Audacity – a cross-platform sound editor and recorder similar to Sound Forge. I use this for simple audio editing—for instance, correcting bad mastering jobs that leave sounds hang

The Finnish psytrance collective People Of The Butterflies returns with Sauce Masculino, the full-length debut of Bechamel Boyz, a “world famous boy band” that demonstrates the typical Finnish disregard for anything even remotely serious. It isn’t clear from the absurd promo text exactly who is behind this strange project (although Astroschnautzer appears to be involved). Their music is fat and groovy “spugedelic” Suomi-style psytrance with ridiculous samples and plenty of weird melodies.
