Here's the low down on McBean Mike

Antonievich aka McBean emerged from a year in Sao Paulo, Brazil with a lifelong

infatuation with musica eletronica. Countless hours immersed in underground

sound in jungles, bunkers and warehouses was soon balanced with a healthy

addiction to collecting vinyl upon return to New Zealand.

The past 5 years have seen McBean play a number

of genres from techno and house to booty and breaks regularly at venues in

Auckland and the Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. In 2006 Mike returned to South America

playing at Euphoria Bar in Santiago, Chile en route to Rio de

Escape From Chaos featuring Ollie Olsen & Hesius Dome Ollie Olse, Hesius Dome, Garagee, Stickleback, Red Eye Express, Sunsaria There are few musicians deserving of the title 'legendary' and even fewer who have managed to combine innovation, with mainstream recognition.

Ollie Olsen is one of those rare beings who has been a genre shaping trailblazer, and has also managed to pop up on the mainstream radar.

Many of Olsen's projects have been so far ahead of their time it almost begs belief. His apocalyptic performance with No on Countdown in the 80's has not been forgotten by anyone who witnessed it, pre empting the dance punk hybrid of artists like Nine Inch Nails by many years. His collaborative work with Michael Hutchence (RIP) of INXS on the Max Q album is still regarded by music critics as being pretty much the ultimate synthesis of creative and commercial aspirations. And then he co founded the Psy-Harmonics label which became a global phenomenon, mainly on the back of his many production aliases.

We have some really cool things lined up throughout the year for our new Thursday nights, including locals from all crews and styles, alongside some awesome guests, both national and international, covering the BASS-heavy styles of Dubstep, Bashment, Reggae, Dub and of course Drum n Bass.

To launch the night, we thought we should celebrate with all the crews that work so hard in Sydney town and have a night of Drum n Bass representing ALL CREWS over two rooms, for only $5.

The general theme of these nights will always be to incorporate ALL crews, as well as those DJs that are not a part of a crew, creating a platform of diversity and opportunity for more of our local talent to play out.

For the past few years, the Sydney dubstep scene has been one of the most exciting underground scenes in a long time, with musicians and music fans from a whole range of musical backgrounds getting behind this vibrant and exhilarating style of music. For over two years now the place to experience this scene has been VOID. Starting in 2007, Void has been there every single month with an amazing slew of international and local dubstep artist, showing how far dubstep has become from starting out as a purely "London thing".

The work FBi has put into the local dubstep scene has been phenomenal. From mentioning Void pretty much every time a dubstep tune is played, to letting our visiting DJs unleash their tunes on Sydney via the famous Midday Mix. We can't imagine a dubstep scene, or any underground music scene without FBi.
