Three of Perth's finest performers will be embarking on a musical journey around the world at Mosmans Restaurant on Wednesday 22nd February. Accompanied by piano maestro David Wickham, Perth's queen of jazz Libby Hammer and king of swing Earl Cole will be serenading diners with songs about some of the world's most beautiful, exotic and famous cities and locations. Mzaza, a Brisbane based 6 piece, plays a passionate mix of French, Spanish, Balkan, Turkish and Arabic traditional and original music with exotic instruments including darabuka (percussion), kamanche (middle-eastern spike-fiddle), ney (turkish flute), kaval (Balkan flute) and double-bass. French-Moroccan front woman Pauline Maudy sings in French, Spanish, Ladino and Turkish. She is known for her passion and captivating on-stage energy. Pauline grew up in Paris listening to flamenco and dancing to North African music. She met her future Mzaza counterparts in Brisbane's West End and together they have created Mzaza's special blend of sounds. The Alley Cat Show will feature extended stopovers in traditional Balkan villages, bars where Turkish military brass musicians stop for a raki (aniseed drink), and towns where gypsy street bands capture your heart. To relieve the stress and horror of their daily aerial dog-fights high above the trenches, they used to gather in the evenings to play then-popular music on whatever instruments they could find, naming themselves after a famous airman of the time.

Having settled in Paris following the 1918 Armistice, they now use their music and their wartime experiences to try to bring peace and understanding to a 1920s world, performing a wide repertoire ranging through naive 1910s pop son
