In the aftermath of the devastation of WWII, Romanian writer Isidore Isou emigrated to Paris in 1945. Driven by his desire to publish his writings in Editions Gallimard, Isou followed a similar path taken earlier by fellow countryman and artistic agitator, Tristan Tzara. Isou began publishing his experimental poetry in the French capitol while becoming involved in various underground groups, numerous stormy events and jarring scandals. In 1946 he co-founded the anti-establishment art movement Lettrism (the precursor to Situationism) with Gabriel Pomerand. Using both the anti-art movements of Dada and Surrealism as an artistic template, Lettrism radicalized culture with its virulence and rancor and promoted the destruction of poetry in fav

Braziliance:

Urban centers like Sao Paulo, Braslia and Rio have a long history of creating sounds, both cosmopolitan and cutting edge. And for anyone familiar with Brazilian music, hybrid is as crucial an adjective as infectious. After all, Brazilians have been the quintessential postmodern musicians unearthing and exploring eccentric sounds both local and global. New Brazilian Beats explores this hybrid and infectious groove that has found its way to dance floors all over the world. Noted D

Let me preface this by saying that I have the utmost respect and admiration for songwriters who can write song after song. Those very talented individuals who, while they are sitting on the plane, in the bathroom, or at a dining table, grab a napkin, the roll of toilet paper, the safety guide on the airplane, or whatever may be handy and start frantically writing. While I have had this inspiration once in a while, its not a fluent talent. So my hats are off to you! The statistics were very interesting and I hope not conclusive of what is going on in the music industry right now, although I suspect they are indicative of it.

K.C Jockey is living large these days, hanging out on film sets with megawatts stars like Denzel Washington, and doing remixes with big acts such as Akon. The deejay hung out with Akon a few months and they hit it off so well that K.C gave his energy to an Akon remix, 'Lap Top'

"I was hanging out with him at the Source awards, at that time, SRC Universal who Akon is signed to, had expressed an interest in signing me as well, but they had other stuff in the pipeline before they could get to me, so that hasn't happened yet. Anyway, hanging with Akon was great, he's down to earth, and we had a crazy time, hanging with shorties, and talking about the industry; it was a family ting," he said.

The remix 'Lap Top' was released earlier this year.

"In the last nine months, I have got a lot of love for that song, it got played a lot so I am pleased," he said.

The What 4

2008 LP Say It Straight

Reviewed by Dobbie Glasson

24 July 2008

Experimental rock band The What 4 has delivered their debut full-length album Say It Straight. With such diverse sounds on the one release, it's no wonder they have been busy playing and getting some air time on Three D Radio. Red Eye Records On:

Matador / Rough TradeBelle and Sebastian is the band that never stopped putting out amazing records. We all love them, and we all therefore predict love for Stuart Murdoch's new offering, God Help The Girl. This film and music project was imagined years ago, but only recently conceived. We have been graced with a new album comprised of new songs and even some re-recorded classics, but here's the kicker - the album is a loose narrative and the girls all look as good as the ones on previous B&S covers. With the script in its final draft, all you need to do now is wait for the movie.
