Join Tim and the band as they bring you a show rich in the art of gentle, beautiful songs.

With a live show that is breezy and nostalgic, characterised by skilful instrumental restraint and gentle sailing melodies, Tim Guy will play the Palais this April following the release of his fourth album.

A true drifter, he has roots across Eastern Australia, Papua New Guinea and more recently New Zealand, and will visit scattered venues up the eastern seaboard with his distinctive sound and his band in tow, telling stories through melody, harmony and a craftsman's way with words.

With a collaboration-rich history, Tim's previous albums include 2004's alt-country release Blazey, and 2007's low-fi gem Hummabyes, which were both received to high acclaim on the NZ music scene and featured many prominent guest musicians - notably Bic Runga, who went on to produce Blazey on her own label. The much celebrated radio-friendly album Big World was released in 2010 and accompanied by a multi-city European tour.

For a real composer, leaving room (so much perfect r oom!) and warming up and decorating his sparse chords with his syrup vocal. Delicate but not too polite, Daniel Pattison is more like the more artistic moments of Imogen Heap. For unexpected, lilting, softly jazz-inspired love songs to comb the beach to. Meg Cavanaugh channels the deep voice of Erykah Badu glueing together her free piano-led letters. And the cracked antique, down and out Tom Waits-likened, swelling sounds of being drunk and broken up but wise and full of grace in your best shoes and vest. Phillious Williams churns up the blues and tango into a catchy serenade...

Beoga return to the Irish Cultural Centre for another lively stint on our stage. These guys are the most enigmatic bunch you'll ever see. Not to be missed. Support by the ever gorgeous Long Notes! Beoga, The Long Notes Beoga (Lively in Irish) are based in County Antrim, in the north of Ireland

The bedrock of their sound lies firmly within the Irish tradition

However, they are not afraid to incorporate other genres' nuances into their music

From bluesy riffs to Astor Piazzola-style jazz, to a raunchy New Orleans jamboree vibe, their music always returns to a wonderfully bouncy Irish sound

The result is traditional, with a huge sense of fun and adventure and it all works - wonderfully well

The Wall Street Journal describes them as "the most exciting new traditional band to emerge from Ireland this century." Irish Music Magazine writes, "Beoga are at the forefront of the new Irish wave."

Home Service Home Service was also born out of a desire to work with a brass section, an idea which emerged when trumpet player Howard Evans joined the Albion Band to work on Bill Bryden's original production of "Lark Rise" at the National Theatre. During its relatively short life in the mid-eighties, Home Service produced three albums (all still available from Fledg'ling Records), headlined at major festivals including Cambridge, Cropredy and Dranouter. They toured extensively, but were probably seen and heard by the greatest number of people when they provided music for the National Theatre's highly acclaimed production of "The Mysteries". This epic trilogy adapted by poet Tony Harrison, ran for many years at the National and Lyceum Theatres, was filmed for television and reprised for the M
