Let me preface this by saying that I have the utmost respect and admiration for songwriters who can write song after song. This was something I remember being told as a child on the same bush track at Crosslands in the Hornsby Shire. This scene is around 10 minutes walk down the benowie track towards Newcastle. Crosslands is a reserve with camping and bush walk and family area. It is sacred land of the local tribe of aboriginals. These two rocks you see here are seen in the local aboriginal dreamtime as to deity turned to stone on the creation of the area, they have been sitting there for thousands of years. The area was used for food, fishing and recreational living of the tribes man and they often left sacrifices to these two deity, one man and one women turned to stone on creation. There is a none religiously connect plaque here talking about the tribes man, but not what these 2 sacred rocks represent. Typical bipartisan views. Anyway this looking point is extremely nice to look at, with sweeping rock faces and I can see why 2 lone rocks would take on an almost magical view here.
