went to a nice party of a friend of a friends (at their house)... then went to the tekno party that was on in an excellant warehouse in the city.

hardcore/gabber seemed to be the order of the day ...

was a but upset that I didn't maked it to the outdoor party to hear Franny play (was not too well that weekend and also worried about the car and the roads) but the friendly vibes at the parties I did get to made up for it.

Somehow this incredible weather also brought back some memories of another memorable 3 day party years ago - Trancelements at Toonumbar! (about 1995 I think)

well, back from china...

had a great five days up north staying with a friend i worked with in Akita.

highlights: buzzing along the north korean border in a jet boat, insane taxi rides (3 and a half hours of dodging oncoming traffic), a massage at a korean sauna, and far too much food!

BE PREPARED! You should keep equipment backups (as well as other essential items) on hand, ready to go should you have a problem. You should also carry a toolbox that has screw and nut drivers, pliers, cutters, jumper wires, plenty of audio adapters, fuses and light bulbs.

For the average system you should have at least one backup cable for every type of cable in your system. The most common system failures can be traced to bad cables. You plug them in and out, you step on them and run over them with your hand truck. Do yourself a big favor and carry backup cables. If you use a wireless mic, keep a wired mic handy as a spare. I find that a Sony Discman can be your best friend when a CD player fails. Toss one in your toolbox (carefully) along with a selection of premixed or compilation CDs just in case your mixer should go down. As a backup, I suggest having a small mixer available.

There's a bit of psychology involved when it comes to making customers happy. I had a fascinating phone call last week from a friend who's moving her office. Getting her telephone system up and running in the new location has become somewhat of a mind-boggling experience. As I listened to her account of the experience, I couldn't help but think back on Lily Tomlin's "Ernestine the telephone operator" character on Laugh-in. Remember that classic phrase, "We don't have to be nice, we're the phone company"?

Getting telephone service in this modern, computerized day and age should be as simple as making a phone call. Yet it seems the more technologically advanced we become, the more we slide backwards on the customer service scale. First, my friend was put through a "press-this-for-that" phone maze. Menus, sub-menus, even sub-sub menus. After pushing enough buttons to drive an elevator operator nuts, she got the dreaded, "All lines are busy... an attendant will be with you shortly" recording. So at the suggestion of some people (mostly Jesse) I have put together a video using clips of people dancing supplied to me by my friend Alex; I'm open to suggestions for improving the video. I'm trying to go with a kinda viral-ish vibe. I think. I'm just throwing out fancypants words at this point, haha.

Best part is, a lot of the footage synced to the tempo and cues somehow, it's like magic!

It all started when our hero, Boy, woke up in a cornfield. It was the first time it had happened. Feeling extraordinarily stunned, Boy backhanded a paper clip, thinking it would make him feel better (but as usual, it did not). Rather abruptly, he realized that his beloved Sword was missing! Immediately he called his friend, Girl. Boy had known Girl for (plus or minus) 550,000 years, the majority of which were striking ones. Girl was unique. She was clever though sometimes a little... bossy. Boy called her anyway, for the situation was urgent.

Girl picked up to a very sad Boy. Girl calmly assured him that most bad guys leave a trail before escaping, yet most good guys usually get distracted and go on 19,287 side quests before catching up with said bad guy. She had no idea what that meant; she was only concerned with distracting Boy. Why was Girl trying to distract Boy? Because she had snuck out from Boy's with the Sword only four days prior. My first attempt at a rock-style song in Garageband. Putting some new tricks to use that I learned, and trying to get a really nice sound. I tried keeping this one a bit more traditional and not so experimental as far as the music itself.

The song is dedicated to a good friend of mine who is an AWESOME graphic designer & photographer, Chelsea Arruda. She is a great inspiration to me because she loves my style and genre and really seems to enjoy my works. If nothing else, she gives me a good reason to keep making music and art.
