NazB calls for all rap artists to get together to speak out against knives and guns The internationally renowned Rapper, NazB is coming to the UK this July to campaign for an end to knife and gun crime on the street. He believes that rappers have a unique role to play in stopping youngsters carrying knives and guns. He is appealing to fellow rap stars to support the cause. NazB is spreading the message through his gigs at the clubs in London and through the TalentGold website. NazB says "Rappers have had a bad press like they are supposed to think it's cool to carry weapons. Not true. We love the kids and don't want to see them getting into real trouble. We think that the kids will listen to what we say because they respect us. So I say to all you kids out there - don't carry knives or guns. If you get into trouble you will hurt others and will suffer for the rest of your life. Don't do it". Susan Carter, Creative Di hiphop Read More... |

Originally released on the defunct Bar de Lune label this album sold 10,000 copies in just one month before it was officially deleted and made unavailable. Now repackaged and featuring additional mixes this timeless CD is finally available across Australia and New Zealand. The charmingly horizontal Steve 'Afterlife' Miller has delivered a fine 17 track opus. Cathy Battistessa opens proceedings with the title track and fuses her balmy vocals into its minimal electronica. Little do they know that such a recognised title can also be claimed within 6 minutes via two turntables, a mixer, a DJ and their brutish mixing power at the decks. Every year the DMC World DJ Championships uncovers the nations best DJ to represent Australia and showcase their skills at the DMC World Finals. With the infamous gold plated Technics decks and mixer up for grabs and not to mention the world title, DJs across the globe are currently preparing themselves to do battle. | | Obese Records Press Release | News Item | DRAPHT JIMMY RECARD THE FIRST SINGLE FROM 'BROTHERS GRIMM ' 'Jimmy Recard' is the magnetic first single from 'Brothers Grimm', the 3rd album from West Australian MC Drapht . 'Jimmy Recard' is the magnetic first single from 'Brothers Grimm', the 3rd album from acclaimed West Australian MC Drapht. If a name is the first thing we inherit upon entering this world, it must surely play a critical role in the determination of who we become. In 'Jimmy Recard' Drapht reflects on what could have been had he not been christened "plain old, boring old Paul". A brilliantly catchy and tongue-in-cheek party-starter, Jimmy Recard is the story of the "king of the castle" and the "king of the bar-stool" - a man with the world at his feet. With Drapht's unique voice and funky, hypnotic flow layered over a soul-fuelled, guitar driven beat, 'Jimmy Recard' is an instant classic. While it may be true for Jimmy that "everything he touches turns to gold", the same could well be said for his doppelga hiphop australia music releases and reviews releases Read More... |
| | JM | News Item | Any West Coast rap fan would expect to hear classic West Coast beats from a classic West Coast heavyweight, that is, the late Mac Dre. However, since Mac Dre Presents Starters In The Game is not actually an album of his but rather a collection of some collaborations he did in his final years, plus songs from artists who have taken in his shadow or are paying tribute to him. In a sense, this is kind of similar to what has repeatedly been done with 2Pac's music - his vocals taken and placed over a more modernized beat, plus a bunch of tracks slapped on from artists who wish to somehow pay tribute to the man. But 'modernized' is not exactly a synonym for 'good.' | | kaisilver | News Item | Multi Gemstone Rings, Why Wear A Multi Gemstone Ring. Look around and you will find that gold rings or silver rings with many colored gemstones are very popular. The eariliest jewelry designs for rings with multiple gemstones were mainly an effort to combine sparkling diamonds with larger sized gemstones. The diamonds were included to add accent and glitter to the gemstone. However the current trend is to combine various colored gemstones into one ring. There are a few reasons why jewelry lovers choose to wear such multi colored gemstone rings: (1) The first and foremost reason is the beauty and attractiveness of rings with multiple gemstones. The color combinations are unlimited and you can let your fancy run wild. Your imagination and the size of your budget are the only known limitations. (2) Rings with many gem stones also match well with garments of different colors. Put simply, a ring with a deep red garnet and a citrine gemstone would go well with a dress that is red or off white, jewelry Read More... |

| | Eater SF | Syndicated | FINANCIAL DISTRICT—About two weeks ago, we shared some heavy rumblings that the shutter might soon be descending upon the 14-year-old Rubicon, and now we have confirmation from the restaurant itself. Rubicon will close next Monday for an "indefinite amount of time," meaning that the Myriad empire will be limited to one coast for the time being. Take it as you will, but the reason given by the restaurant for the closure is the following: because of some structural issues, the building is in need of a retrofit, hence the hiatus of indeterminate length. Since Rubicon is closed on Sundays, the last supper is on Saturday night. More info as it comes in. [EaterWire] EaterWire: Rubicon Considers Shutter? [~ESF~] Read More... |
| | Music Emissions Alternative Music Reviews | Syndicated | The long awaited self titled album from Saosin was finally released last year. The album was nothing at all what was to be expected. While the album was good, it wasn't as risky as listeners would have liked it to have been. The music now is more of the poppy melodic feel, where as before around the Translating the Name album, therer was more of a sense of a hardcore essence. Something must have gotten lost in translation within those years between albums. The musicianship on this album is absolutely brilliant. For more of a pop album, the guitars and drums do a great job in blending together to make each song catchy. Songs such as Voices, I Never Wanted To, and Sleepers reveal the talent of which each musician brings to this group. The lyrics throughout the album are alright at best. For the music they play, it goes well, but I would have liked to see more of the complex style of lyrics rather then simple lyrics that just anyone would be able to think up. Then again, with every negative there is a so Read More... |
