Walked in the door around 9pm hahahah ... to see Erther play and say hello ... but the lineup had been bumped around and someone was warming up things with a few tracks ... and when I returned to the floor with a drink ... aniki was playing.

Aniki got the shits pretty early on. The decks weren\\\\\\\'t stable and there was a fair amount of skipping, so he was crashing records togther but it didn\\\\\\\'t matter, as it was in keeping with the theme of the night, loud and raw. He finshed rather early I thought by dropping a Motley Cru track (God I think it was \\\\\\\'Kick Start my Heart\\\\\\\') and cranked it to 11 while he packed up ... Some people in the lounge closed the door in disgust and things were underway, truly a fitting way for the night to start ...

Perhaps the stand-out track on the album (along with the re-mix version) "Beethoven Burst" is a piece of music that the mind can enjoy as well as the ears. Borrowing from the great composer Beethoven, Ankit Love adds his own hip hop twist to it, coupled nicely with colorful lyrics peppered with space terminology that give this classic a whole new meaning. Continuing the theme, "Spill The Milky Way" is a more melodic offering. With two versions of this track to contemplate, listeners will enjoy both equally. The traditional version is fuller, with a more polished sound, but the acoustic version is perhaps more beautiful in its stripped down simplicity.

"Unite + Funk" should be self-explanatory. The rhythm is pure funk, with a beat that begs to be danced to. Ankit Love's signature sound is heard clearly and the smooth cadence of this piece will remain in the head long after the songs concludes. Raspect Records producer and frontman Ali MC presents the debut limited edition 7 inch single from New Dub City Sound, a fresh mash up of reggae, dancehall, hiphop and dub. Featuring two songs, Home and Dub in Liberia, Ali MC combines conscious lyrics, solid beats and a backdrop of echoes and delays delivered with distinct energy and passion.

Home, produced by Ali MC, is a laid back summer dub with an overlay of surf guitar sounds, while Dub in Liberia is a reggae soundscape of life in the wartorn African nation, and sees UK Metalheadz producer Mikal lend his gritty techniques to the track.

The cover of Bob Dylan's "You Angel You" is the best track off this otherwise unremarkable album. I find it kind of peculiar how Manfred Mann had some of his biggest successes with Bob Dylan covers. However, I don't listen to this album much now and the band itself was, for me, reminiscent of a time in popular music when punk was changing the face of the music world and bands like this refused to change or adapt to the new wave and were about to be swept away. As a result, this album was destined to fade almost as soon as it was released. Yes it had some style - it was well-produced, it had some good musicians on it and it was well-played. Having said that, the over-emphasis on the synthesiser was a little wearying at times. Manfred Mann may well have been one of the best keyboard players of his generation but I was never a great fan of that instrument and found that all too often it was used to cover up basic deficiencies in ability or a critical lack of creativity.
