The biggest inspiration you can have to avoid a career collision is to get up, look yourself in eye in your mirror and remember the classic children's book, "I Think I can, I think I can, I know I can, I know I can." From "The Little Train That Could." Say to yourself when you are looking in that mirror that You Can do it! You will do! And then get out of your comfort zone and DO it! Then start looking on the Internet for local musicians meetings to begin your networking today. Build your list of potential supporters one hand shake at a time.

As a musician, bands have it easier than a solo artist in terms of cost to make a CD. Other than that, there are little or no differences. For bands/artists who wish to start the process of making, distributing, and getting radio airplay by themselves, believe it or not, you are starting your own record label. Even if your goal is to land a major recording contract, you will still need to gather more attention for your music by cutting, distributing and promoting your own music. Youll have a much better chance at getting a great record deal with a major label if you are successful on your own first.

Let me preface this by saying that I have the utmost respect and admiration for songwriters who can write song after song. Those very talented individuals who, while they are sitting on the plane, in the bathroom, or at a dining table, grab a napkin, the roll of toilet paper, the safety guide on the airplane, or whatever may be handy and start frantically writing. While I have had this inspiration once in a while, its not a fluent talent. So my hats are off to you! The statistics were very interesting and I hope not conclusive of what is going on in the music industry right now, although I suspect they are indicative of it.

Lifted from their 'No Rest' album released in May 08, independent Hip Hop/ Rock eight piece Casual Projects emerge from the nations capital with their oh so catchy third single 'Time'. Setting the bench-mark high, Casual Projects' first single 'Move Along' earned the band a position as one of the winners of the International Songwriting Competition in the top 15 songs of the pop category ahead of 15,000 others. The grand finale, The Australian finals of the 2008 DMC World DJ Championship, was held this Saturday 6th September at Melbourne's Hi Fi Bar. Proudly presented by TDK Life On Record, DMC Australia and supported by Dub Clothing and Ortofon, champion DJs from six states flew in to take on reigning 2-time Australian champion DJ Perplex.

After a massive build up, the stage was set for a high level of competition and the DJ talent on display didn't disappoint.

Victoria's B.Two took out 3rd place with 12 points winning a $500 voucher from TDK Life On Record, a copy of Ableton Live software, Torq slipmats, DMC DVDs, Serato vinyl, and DUB clothing.

Western Australian DJ Zeke took out 2nd Place, WA's highest ever finish, with 15 points winning a $700 voucher from TDK Life On Record, a copy of Serato Scratch Live, a copy of Reason production software, DMC DVDs and clothing from Ortofon and DUB.

In the end though, experience and superior skills won out as two times Australian champion DJ Perplex stepped up

The internationally renowned Rapper, NazB is coming to the UK this July to campaign for an end to knife and gun crime on the street. He believes that rappers have a unique role to play in stopping youngsters carrying knives and guns. He is appealing to fellow rap stars to support the cause.

NazB is spreading the message through his gigs at the clubs in London and through the TalentGold website.
