Club Retro Level 1

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is Australia's only nightclub that plays Deathrock, Batcave, Old Skool Goth, Horror Punk, Gothabilly exclusively.

*we do not play EBM, Industrial, Techno, Nu Metal or 80's retro. This does not mean we do not support it, we just wont play it* With so many clubs catering for everyones needs we felt that Deathrock, Batcave, Old Skool Goth, Horror Punk, Gothabilly were being over looked. This is why we came up with Australia's premier Deathrock club.

No other state in Australia plays Deathrock, Batcave, Old Skool Goth, Horror Punk, Gothabilly exclusively.

Every month we have giveaways from overseas Deathrock artists. It is all about the music nothing more and promoting a scene that can only grow even more.

The Bovine Sex Club - 542 Queen Street West (East of Queen & Bathurst)

Awesome Horror, Punk, Rockabilly, Ramones and Elvis Loving Band. THE INDEPENDENTS with PantyChrist There aren't a lot of rainbows and teddy bears in the land of The Independents. Willy B and Evil Presly, founding guitarist and vocalist of this veteran South Carolina rock outfit, are a light-hearted duo, but they find jolly inspiration in a different place - good old fashioned horror.

Inspired by classic Universal horror flicks like "Creature from the Black Lagoon" and "The Wolf Man," The Independents have been spooking fans with the band's own style of slapstick death rock for nearly two decades now.

A counter on the band's recently updated Web site (www.theindependents.net) informs the visitor, "You are visitor 666." A merry cast of ghoul greets interested visitors of both the Web site and the band's music. On "Death Notice," a fast rockabilly cut from 2002's "Back from the Grave," Presly sings, "Destroying you was so much fun." Songs like "Flesh Eaters," "Succubus" and "Buried Alive" further explor

From: Lions Gate - Year: 2005 - Rated: Not Rated - Release Date: August 22, 2006 - Features: Anamorphic * Widescreen * DTS * Extras! * - Recommended! The Devil's Rejects leaves a lasting impression. It's everything that the hardcore horror fans have been dying for. Rob Zombie got things 100% right with this one. Having made what in my opinion is an instant classic here, I can only anxiously await his future projects because, unlike many recent films, this one fulfills everything it promises and then some. From: Mondo Macabro - Year: 1979 - Rated: Not Rated - Release Date: May 27, 2008 - Features: Anamorphic * Widescreen * Extras! * - Recommended! Right up my alley, this little supernatural revenge film works thanks to interesting and exotic locales, a thorough script that's somewhat smarter than usual, and some incredibly fun special effects work. Those tired of CGI blood spurts will find lots to savor here - there's an undeniable charm and magic to homegrown, in-camera FX work we rarely get today. The Queen of Black Magic is everything a trip to the edges of cinema should be: goofy, outrageous, and fun. If I have one qualm, it's that it never goes as far as it should, but that's carping. This is the perfect midnight movie, and a must-see for any horror enthusiast. Amazon Compare

From: Blue Underground - Year: 1996 - Rated: Not Rated - Release Date: September 25, 2007 - Features: Anamorphic * Widescreen * DD 5.1 * DTS * Extras! * - Recommended! Perhaps something of a minor work in the director's catalog, there is absolutely nothing minor about the way Blue Underground has gussied up this 2-disc release. The uncut/uncensored transfer is a beaut-besting previous releases by a light years-and the array of audio choices (including DTS-ES 6.1) is equally impressive. Less horror than psychological thriller, The Stendhal Syndrome easily carries some of Argento's most haunting and nightmarish visuals, and the added presence of Asia Argento as a troubled detective on the trail of a murdering rapist (or is it the other way around?) just gives this one an added kick. Highly recommended. Amazon Compare

When the vast amount of embedded rage spews out from the typically well mannered emotionally contained masses in Japan; it takes the form of bloody blade culture, a profound symbolic weapon in its history and mythology. There is an increasing trend of gratuitous violence suddenly erupting like underground lava. Very plutonic, by nature, Japan is a volcanic island, with immense geothermal intensity, which resonates thru the industrious disciplined structure of its society. Raw emotions to coagulate underground in the collective psyche. These visceral feelings constellate around mythological narratives and themes, as in manga, anime, and horror film genres. When people crack and psychotically vent their inflamed embedded anger it often takes the form of extreme acts with sadistic twists. Recently a man murdered his neighbour, a lady in her 20s, and cut up her body into small pieces and flushed it down the toilet. Yesterday an enraged man frustrated with the world and went on a rampant killing spree, ramdomly knif

SXSW Documentary 'a/k/a Tommy Chong' Gets Picked Up (in a ra SXSW News
Syndicated
A few weeks ago, reports surfaced that the FBI seized approximately 10,000 DVD copies of the SXSW 2006 documentary, a/k/a Tommy Chong in a raid on Ohio-based Spectrum Labs. Spectrum established itself by marketing a detoxification product endorsed by Tommy Chong and had more recently become a partner in the documentary about the US Justice Departments post 9/11 crackdown on Chongs glass pipe business. The doc chronicles the lead-up to Chongs prison term and reveals the questionable legal tactics employed by the government to secure their high-profile indictment.

We spoke to filmmaker Josh Gilbert and Tommy Chong about this most recent incident. Information from the FBI is scarce (its a sealed indictment) but neither seem too surprised by the recent raids. Gilbert writes:

This story is a scary lens into a long term, right wing conspiracy to stack the courts and the entire judicial system with Republican zealots, who will determine the Rule of Law in the United States for many years to come.

Abstain from obsessively renumbering that Netflix queue—Weeds Season 3 still has a “short wait.” This week and next it is all about getting out to the movies. Putting Sex and the City and Ironman aside, let’s talk festivals—’cause let’s face it: SF loves it some festivals.

This week Another Hole in the Head (June 5-25) sets up shop, and they’ve even scared up a last minute screening to cap things off: the West Coast premiere of FX master Yoshihiro Nishimura’s Tokyo Gore Police. Rumored to be “the one to catch” for anyone who relishes a weird science plot line, the film features jaw-dropping stunt work, a “let’s avenge our fathers’ deaths” theme and the obligatory human mutation threat caused by a runaway virus and a scientist who’s gone off the rails.

In other cinematic news, the SF Black Film Festival also opens this week, tonight in fact (June 4–15), with one particularly eye-catching short film on th

Wow... sometimes I feel like a fool for sleeping on an album review. On Verbal Kent's What Box, I am that fool. This record walks that shadowed cloud between Rap and Hip Hop that I rarely refer to as I rarely enjoy Rap. Hip Hop being a more acquired taste for a typical Gen X rocker, and Rap a taste I cant at all, I enjoy a good spackling of bass, beat, scratch and sample. Verbal Kent is right there along the lines of Atmosphere and Deltron 3030, while walking the thin line with some of the most influential AggroRappers like Busta (Rhymes)or Method Man, strong lyrically, but odd and moody rhythms with often times; contemporary sample cuts. Organ, and horror movie like, most of the production is on behalf of HAZ1 with vocal jabs from Willis Drummond II, One Man Army (aka One Be Lo) and Rusty Chains. Often times HAZ1 -who is also assisted by Presyce on breakbeats and cuts- has a tendency to mix up the vibe so soundly between Hip Hop and Rap, his work resembles that of a Dre/Ant prodigy. Then there's tracks like
