Vai was being most sincere, rather than sarcastic. Since then Townsend has amazed, beguiled and occasionally baffled all comers in numerous incarnations spanning the extreme noise metal of Strapping Young Lad to the intricate melodies of Ocean Machine; Devin has had his hand in almost every genre of music, from industrial metal to progressive rock to ambient sounds. All of these projects had one thing in common: GENIUS. From the perfection of the wall of noise that was 'Strapping Young Lad ' to the brilliance of 'The Devin Townsend Band ', Hevy Devy has embarked on his most ambitious project yet; a series of four albums under his new moniker 'Devin Townsend Project '. | | | Blog Entry | History of a 'miraculous mineral'Asbestos was used in scores of home materials during the 20th century, but there was a cost.By Arrol Gellner, Inman NewsOctober 1, 2006 Over a century ago, American builders began using a remarkable mineral product. Being mined from a type of serpentine rock, it was natural, abundant and easy to produce, yet its unique properties made it almost limitlessly useful. It was resistant to chemicals and intense heat. It was an excellent electrical and thermal insulator. Out of its fibers, you could weave a cloth that wouldn't burn. You could even mix it with other materials to make them stronger and more fireproof.ADVERTISEMENTOver the course of the 20th century, American industry — with the government's blessing — found thousands of uses for this miraculous mineral.Woven into a cloth, it was used to insulate electrical wires. Mixed with a binder, it made a fireproof insulation for pipes and ducts. Mixed with cement, it made a host of practically indestructible Read More... |

| | Music Emissions Alternative Music Reviews | Syndicated | I thought I would squeak out one more review this year in honor of a great musician who passed away in 2009 just after the release of his album, Immolate Yourself. Telefon Tel Aviv was basically a duo between Charles Cooper and Joshua Eustis. Cooper was found dead the week after Immolate Yourself was released. As of right now, Eustis has no plans to continue Telefon Tel Aviv.It really is a shame because Immolate Yourself is a great electronica album. One that brims with energy and excitement while crossing new boundaries in sampling. The album opens up with a brilliant and inspirational track simply called "The Birds". I get a very vivid city-scape vision with this song. Then, not quite as upbeat, we get "Your Mouth". It's every bit as smart as the opening track, just a slower BPM. "M" starts out like they are playing underwater as the New Order-like track washes over you as it comes out from the depths. "Helen Of Troy" almost comes of industrial only with a little more techno edge.I think Immolate Yourself i music releases and reviews releases hardhouse trance Read More... |

| | Thermostat | Syndicated | Slovakian dark electronic duo Disharmony (aka Lord Sauron and Ryby) first emerged back in 2002 with their debut album Moonflower on Broken Seal, and since then, they’ve continued to release a steady stream of material on labels including Aliens Production and Monopol. This latest longplayer Evolution follows on the heels of last year’s collection of remixes for other artists, Cloned " The Other Side Of Evolution, and represents Disharmony’s fifth artist album in total, as well as their second for the Chicago-based Tympanik Audio label. What’s most immediately apparent upon listening to Evolution is the degree of care the duo have taken with the intricate sound design, with tracks such as expansive opener ‘Revolution’ beautifully blending an underlying sense of sinister yet lush bass presence with meticulously sculpted broken downbeat electronic rhythms and twinkling melodic keyboards. RAM 'Liquid Lunch' 6. Broken Toy (Scorb Rmx) 'Absolutely' 7. Scorb 'Phibian' 8. Far East Ghost vs. NRS 'Unbreakable' 9. NRS 'Resurge' Damage- "Funky Beats"- I purchased this cd after hearing the real audio sample for this track, and consequently, it ends up being one of my favorites on the cd, This track is a slightly different twist on the damage sound....Its a slower, funkier groove that chugs along around 137 for a bit before busting out the sample "This the best you can do? No new style?" Hell yeah there's a new style, and its killerrrr...then the gritty breakbeat and raw damage synth sounds that I loveee...the funky beat sample repeats a bit much....but hey, I'm not complaining cause this track ROCKSSSSSS! (and a dope ending as well ) 9/10 Scorb- "Kakah Tooki"- This track literally rips its self open diving straight into the madness....this one music releases and reviews releases hardhouse trance Read More... |
