All day markets and music in the centre of Newtown Newtown D.I.Y markets has been a regular fixture on the last Saturday of the month in Newtown for the last 6 years and has helped launch many local artists as well as clothing labels and craft products. The monthly event was launched on the wave of street party's and social justice oriented community events around 2003. Mass produced items are discouraged but second hand trash and treasure often finds a new home at these vibey markets.

Its is on again this Saturday 25th and promises to be a big one,the weather's looking good so come on down to the centre of Newtown,browse at the many stalls and listen to the varied selection of tunes from the Mulgi sound system.D.J Chrislego,MashyP and Vapor will be spinning.

Joffre Balce: Markets? What Markets? When Philosophy Truly Meets Agora The talk will provide a philosophical treatment of economics by returning to its very foundations. Who produces what; for whom? Why should commodities be traded; valued as they are; Where is that "free market" that everyone is talking about, how does it work & when is it going to make poverty history as its advocates claim it would? If we don't like the way the world economy is run, how can philosophers begin to participate in building a new market economy?

Joffre is an economist who has worked in both developed & developing economies. His obtained a Bachelor of Arts at the Ateneo de Manila University. He has lectured on the history of economic thought at the University of Asia & the Pacific, where he earned a Master of Science in Industrial Economics. He is currently working on his PhD in Law at the University of New South Wales.

The show, hosted by the Keystone Record Collectors takes place just northwest of the Lancaster/Reading exit of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and US 222. The 9am-3pmexpo features all types of music (rock, R&B, country, jazz and more) in all types of formats (CDs, records, tapes) at all speeds (33 and a third, 45's, 78's) along with music memorabilia. The expo includes sixty vendors from across the eastern U.S.
