BROAD

BROAD is back!

Five brilliant female artists backed by a hot band led by the incomparable James Black (Rockquiz) take to the stage, performing a compelling mix of well-known, and soon to be known, original songs.

The consummate Deborah Conway is joined by Nashville-based country/rock guitar player Anne McCue, New Buffalo mastermind Sally Seltman, R&B soul diva Jade MacRae (Channel 7's 'It Takes Two') and this year's winner of the WA's Best Female Artist (WAMI) and Fuzz front woman, Abbe May.

After delighting audiences with the debut tour of Broad in 2005, Deborah Conway has continued to provide Australian music lovers with a feast of talent on stage together in 2006 and 2007. Ruby Hunter, Katie Noonan, Clare Bowditch and Ella Hooper are some of the diverse singer-songwriters who have shared their music in Broad.

This year promises to again showcase the amazing depth and warmth of contemporary songwriters in Australia.

Five extraordinary artists, five unique styles, one great concert

Children and the Entertainment Industry - With backstage moms and dads prevailing over their children, are we in danger of corru
Blog Entry
In todays society we know that the moral fiber of our communities is in peril. Why then, do we not protect our children? We have a responsibility to safeguard our most vulnerable; instead, we prematurely catapult them into a world they are not mature enough to handle and destroy their innocence. Frequently, I am asked by parents and friends of aspiring stars to offer my opinion about getting their child into show business. Recently my publicist, Marsha Friedman, President of Event Management sent me the following question: After the performance I spoke with her mom (who was in tears the whole time) about their incredible daughter and her future. Their daughter's dream is to be on stage singing professionallyI said I would forward some information to you - to get your thoughts. After much contemplation, I wrote to the parents (excerpt):

Career Train Wreck by Jaci Rae - Is your career on the fast track to no where? Jaci Rae - The Rae of Hope - The Indie Guide to
Blog Entry
If you've ever felt like your career was heading for a train wreck and didn't know where to turn, look no further than your own mirror. While you will find there are many people in the industry who will help you once you've succeeded, it's a far cry sometimes for anyone to help you when you are climbing up a ladder that sways in the wind and each rung seems like it's going down instead of up. The biggest inspiration you can have to avoid a career collision is to get up, look yourself in eye in your mirror and remember the classic children's book, "I Think I can, I think I can, I know I can, I know I can." From "The Little Train That Could." Say to yourself when you are looking in that mirror that You Can do it! You will do! And then get out of your comfort zone and DO it! Then start looking on the Internet for local musicians meetings to begin your networking today. Build your list of potential supporters one hand shake at a time.

How to Market Your Band's Music and CD to Make Money by Jaci Rae - How to on Music and Money Jaci Rae - The Rae of Hope - The
Blog Entry
As a musician, bands have it easier than a solo artist in terms of cost to make a CD. Other than that, there are little or no differences. For bands/artists who wish to start the process of making, distributing, and getting radio airplay by themselves, believe it or not, you are starting your own record label. Even if your goal is to land a major recording contract, you will still need to gather more attention for your music by cutting, distributing and promoting your own music. Youll have a much better chance at getting a great record deal with a major label if you are successful on your own first.

Drinking and Drive a Deadly Mix by Jaci Rae - Is the rising cost of this industry becoming too much for your family to endure?

51 Billion Dollars and rising! Sounds like a company a wise investor should invest in. After all, having a piece of a 51 billion dollar industry is an exciting prospect, filled with anticipation for the future right? Not this time. This industry takes away any hope for the future. Any promise of potential greatness is dashed to the ground, becoming ashes and dust when people continue to invest in this business. Warnings have been issued over the years advising people to avoid investing in this global industry. Still people chose to purchase the stock some one share at a time, others in large quantities.

Dyann Woody Releases Debut Solo Album My Softer Side
Blog Entry
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nashville, TN--October 3, 2005--Who knew that this country singer was really a closet chanteuse? Dyann Woody makes a seamless transition from 'Yee Haw' to 'Ooh La La'. She not only has the voice of an angelic siren, but what will amaze you even more is just how easy and pleasing her music is to listen to. She reaches across many genres and meshes elements of '70's singer/songwriter style, jazz, blues and pop with the art of a well-crafted lyric.

Although this is Dyann's first solo album, she has shared musical success with her husband as part of the Country Music Group, The Woodys. Their debut album on Rounder Records went #1 on the Americana charts; they were voted the Top County Vocal Duo at the International Music News Awards and have received worldwide critical acclaim for all three of their albums. However, there was still a part of Dyann that was musically unfulfilled. She wanted to write songs that expressed all of the emotions and experiences that she and other women h

Penalty Phase - Getting Out of a Tough Moment Jaci Rae

Arguments happen in every kind of relationship. They're just a part of life. Therefore, it's how we handle those moments that will define the future of our relationships and how well they prosper and grow. I am sure that you've heard it said many times that in a heated moment you have to watch your words.

This is because words are very powerful and whatever you say can never be taken back. So try to follow a few basic steps when a heated argument arises in your life. Step back and don't say a word until you have had a chance to process the situation. Try to really hear, not just listen to what the other person is saying. Even if you don't agree with them, accept the fact that its how they feel and you will go a long way if you hear what they are saying. Your partner will begin to feel validated and believe that you do care about their feelings.

Once you have listened to your partner's side, offer to sit down to discuss the matter together. It's important to use an even tone, no matter how angr

Relationship…for some that word stirs up fears of commitment and for others it conjures up the idea of ever lasting love. For many on the dating scene ‘ever lasting love’ is their ultimate goal but how do you find someone to go on a date with and once you do how do you go from date to relationship?

While the person you’re dating may be looking for Mr. or Mrs. Right, they may not be looking for Mr. or Mrs. Right now, meaning pull in the reins and go a little slower. But let’s start at the beginning instead of jumping straight to the finish line. Let’s get back to the basics.

To get back to basics, let’s start with a history lesson. Dating can be a scene right out of your High School memory banks. Many are haunted by memories of their first date and the nervous tension that resulted from the anticipation of it: “Did I pick the correct outfit?” “Will I smell good to them?” “Is my breath okay?” “What will

Mark Olson & Gary Louris: Flood Ready JamBase

By: Dennis Cook Louris & Olson "The look on your face when you start to remember..." You'd be hard pressed to find two better songwriters than Mark Olson and Gary Louris. As the central force in The Jayhawks for a decade (1985-1995), the pair created heartfelt, jangling, shimmering American rock 'n' roll that's stood the test of time. There's something of the Everly Brothers and Gram & Emmylou to their intermingling, a life-toughened intimacy that succors weary listeners and gives shuffle to dead leg days The duo released Ready For The Flood on January 27 on New West Records, a set their fiercely devoted fan base has been waiting a long time to hear. Outside of some scrapped songs for a movie soundtrack in 2001, the duo hadn't been in the studio together since Olson's departure from The Jayhawks in 1995 to work with now-ex-wife Victoria Williams. After parting ways with Williams in 2005, Olson re-teamed with Louris for two short tours in late 2005 and early 2006 billed as "From the
