Our performers this month:

Tyler Knight writes short stories and poetry largely rooted in the worlds of adult film, corporate finance and the Fellini-esque characters that occupy them. Hes recently completed an autobiographical short story collection, and a semi-biographical novel.

Since he began writing in 2009, his short stories have been published in several literary magazines including Thieves Jargon, Sex and Murder, and Thirst For Fire. In January 2010, London based publisher Ronin Press published his first chapbook. Tyler also writes a monthly column for For The Girls magazine.

He lives in Los Angeles with his girlfriend, parrot and turtles.

Why There Are Words, a new literary reading series, will kick off its inaugural event January 14, 2010, 7 PM at Studio 333, at 333 Caledonia Street, Sausalito. Donations of $5 will be accepted at the door.

The Why There Are Words January 14 premiere readers include: Tamim Ansary, Shana Mahaffey, Scott James, Mari Coates, Michael Alenyikov and Gravity Goldberg. The theme is Different Year, Different Worlds. Award-winning Ansary, Mahaffey and James will have their books on hand for purchase and signing. Readers' bios including titles of their published works are available at the website whytherearewords.wordpress.com.

The literary series will take place every second Thursday of the month and will showcase the area's finest prose writers. Prose writers are those working in narrative forms other than poetry. Each event presents three featured writers " those who have published books " and three guest writers, who haven't yet published books but share with the featured writers the criterion of excel
