Blues music and comedy; at first sight it would seem to be a strange mix. One makes you cry, the other makes you laugh. However mixing them together is just what Comedian and Harmonica player Michael Connell is planning to do in a new comedy show. "I've been doing comedy for over eight years, and playing the Harmonica for the last four, and I've always kept my comedy and music very separate," Michael explains. "However, recently I've begun to notice there's a lot of similarities between the Blues and Comedy. For me, they're both about taking something negative, like being poor or getting cheated on, and turning it into something positive like music or laughter."

The Eminescu Poetry and Art Festival is happening at the Tap Gallery between the 15th and the 21st of June 2009. Mihai Eminescu ( /mi'haj e.mi'nes.ku/) was a late Romantic poet, novelist and journalist, and regarded as Romania's most famous and influential poet. The festival will celebrate the life and work of Eminescu, over a packed week of poetry, music, theatre, film and art exhibition.


The Eminescu Festival draws parallels between the cultural heritage of both Romania and Australia and will highlight both country's shared passion for poetry. Romanian poets, artists and musicians living in Sydney will perform alongside leading contemporary Australian poets over four dates of the festival. Five award winning Romanian short films will also screen during two FREE movie nights.
