If a good fusion band is one that knows how to combine the best of all their worlds into a sound that's immediately engaging and stays that way, then Hamsa Lila goes beyond good and well into the realm of great. Hamsa Lila is based in San Francisco, which may account for the rather psychedelic quality of their music. However, much of their melodic muscle comes from liberal use of guimbri and sintir, stringed gut-and-skin instruments that in Morocco are the rough equivalent of guitar and bass. A standard drum set sharpens and regulates the rhythmic flow, but don't assume for a minute that this music sounds reined in. It's as free-spirited as music gets, extending an invitation to dance and trance that's hard to resist. Incantory female vocals, African, Arabic, Asian and Latin grooves and ancient atmospherics rubbing elbows with modern ones are all part of the Hamsa Lila signature sound.

Earthlings released his first tracks "Just Say Yes" on T.I.P. records, "Dusty Hoffmans" on Neurobiotic records, and his debut album "Patterns" on Acidance records in 2001, which gave him global recognition, and launched his career as an international Dj and performer. BarCampSydney is a gathering of creative tech brains for learning, sharing and collaboration. 'BarCamp is an international network of unconferences - open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants - focusing on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies and social protocols.'"BarCamp is an ad-hoc unconference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment".

For the Sydney BarCamp we're making topics open to those beyond technology to include entertainment, art, marketing, other technologies and content such as podcasts and so on. See other camps such as ArtCamp, MarCamp and BlogCamp.

Dubbed the Timothy Leary of the e-generation, founding Zippie and grandfather of Luminopolis, Fraser Clark, has recently been diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer and his time within this reality zone is possibly drawing to a close. A special one-off Megatripolis event will be held as a fundraiser for his specialist medical care.

In the late 1980's Fraser the creator and editor of the Encyclopaedia Psychedelica, (EPi) a London based magazine, which achieved international recognition & wherein he developed the concept and coined the phrase Zippie, with the idea of saving the planet, encouraging a consciousness craze and to embrace technology.

soundDowntown 2008 is a one-day music festival on Saturday, November 15, featuring a lineup of over 50 locally and nationally recognized bands, DJ's and performing artists at various venues throughout the Artist's Village of downtown Santa Ana.

Preferred advance tickets are $10 and general admission is $15 day-of. Event tickets will allow patrons to enter all local venues (some 21+) curated with entertainment. Venue capacity will range from 50 to 800, so suggested arrival times will vary. Advance tickets are now on sale at the festival website, complete with special parking information.
