Klondike's North 40 - Album Launch barflypromotions
Event
Friday 23rd November 2007

Esplanade Hotel, 11 Upper Esplanade St, St, Kilda, 3182

Album Launch for Radio Birdman Guitarist Chris Masuak's band Klondike's North 40 Klondike's North 40, Digger & The Pussycats, Midnight Woolf, The Hutt River Solution Chris "Klondike" Masuak's musical history reads like a muscle car ride through the mean streets of Australia's rock and roll underground. So much so, that you're left wondering why he hasn't released a solo band record since the '90s.

"The Straight Path" is the new album by his outfit, Klondike's North 40, and it manages to recall the Radio Birdman and Hitmen guitarist's long list of musical reference points.

Undeniably rocking and embellished to the hilt with loud guitars, "The Straight Path" is served up with a generous dollop of unabashed melodic pop.

Echoes of Detroit rock, soul and Flamin' Groovies powerpop mix it with an Eastern raga and Turtles-style backing vocals.

Live, Klondike's North 40 are Masuak on guitar and vocals, Red Porter (Juke Savages) on bass, Gerard Presland (Hitmen DTK) on drums and Matt Sulman on vocals.

Some of Australia’s finest exponents of electronic music, Dirty South in his last DJ appearance in London for 2007 and Vandalism in their only DJ appearance in London of 2007, are lined up to deliver some Antipodean attitude to the Club Azuli crowd. And in the second arch, balancing the Australian invasion and injecting a bit of soul from the States is the Baltimore house legend, Karizma - what a line up! They are slammin’ it at Space Ibiza every Friday night, to a sophisticated, international crowd of party people. (i.e.: friendship with benefit's), or, those of some men that get a great girl, but don't exhibit to know what they have, hurt the girl or cause themselves to lose her and/or what they may have had, be it, (thing's were great, misc., then the guy started screwing up). I mean, who doesn't already know that 'life is short', moment's (are suppose to be) worth cherishing, sigh . . . and even though God's Word says it's gonna get worse before it gets better, some people seem to go on clueless as to somehow self destroy; I mean, Arnold said in the movie, “T2”, (It's in your nature to destroy yourselves). Why do we as humanity prove that to be true? It just seems that humanity for as long as I've been on this rock, humanity seems to keep justifying 'judgment day', as every

The competition is fierce and your company is just one in a billion others trying to grab the attention of consumers and the business world. How can you get your company to the top of the pile and start gaining the clout and money you need to succeed? In Part I and II of this article, I will reveal some of the top five marketing and promotion tools that are used by some of the biggest names in any industry. I call it Bulldozer Marketing. First, let me start with the basics.

It's all about marketing and promotion. While there are never any guarantees that your product or service will become the next big thing, one thing is certain: Unless you know the rules of engagement to this game, no matter how unique and urgently needed your product or service is, most people will never hear about it.

How to Market Your Band's Music and CD to Make Money by Jaci Rae - How to on Music and Money Jaci Rae - The Rae of Hope - The
Blog Entry
As a musician, bands have it easier than a solo artist in terms of cost to make a CD. Other than that, there are little or no differences. For bands/artists who wish to start the process of making, distributing, and getting radio airplay by themselves, believe it or not, you are starting your own record label. Even if your goal is to land a major recording contract, you will still need to gather more attention for your music by cutting, distributing and promoting your own music. Youll have a much better chance at getting a great record deal with a major label if you are successful on your own first.

Let me preface this by saying that I have the utmost respect and admiration for songwriters who can write song after song. Those very talented individuals who, while they are sitting on the plane, in the bathroom, or at a dining table, grab a napkin, the roll of toilet paper, the safety guide on the airplane, or whatever may be handy and start frantically writing. While I have had this inspiration once in a while, its not a fluent talent. So my hats are off to you! The statistics were very interesting and I hope not conclusive of what is going on in the music industry right now, although I suspect they are indicative of it.

I think I could set it up so that when an event is posted to a blog via this plugin it is recognised as an event and posted to the event listings under the correct date, categories, city, etc.

In simple terms:

The use of microformats like hcalendar could provide lots of interesting ways for people to syndicate data such as event details, locations, contact details, etc to to other sites using standard blogging software while still keeping the data in seperate machine-useable fields.

Saucy Monky "Flicker"
Blog Entry
Has anyone else been hearing a beautiful new song called "Flicker" by the group Saucy Monky? I just heard it over here in Ireland on Today FM (Ireland's national radio) this morning and it's BEAUTIFUL! It's a love(lost) ballad, and Cynthia Catania (the lead singer on it) is kinda like Chrissie Hynde, I guess you'd say. Her voice is really soothing and sexy, I find, but it's also mature and you can feel the emotion behind it. It's my fave track off their album, which I JUST HAD TO go and buy after hearing it on the radio so much. And I'm a freakin' poor college kid - so go figure. Wow, I actually SUPPORTED an artist instead of stealing the track from online...so F**K you, RIAA!! :-) Plus, the disc was dirt-cheap. it's an 9-track mini-album EP that is selling for something ridiculous at HMV and Tower for like 9.99 EURO (that's what I got mine for anyway) and I see it's available on their site for the same price but in US dollars!

The Daily Vault Album Reviews: Random Thoughts (From A Paralyzed Mind)

by Jason Warburg, The Daily Vault

Here we go again. Halfway through the slush pile, tossing 'em aside like pancakes at a Little League fundraiser, and allofasudden whoooaaa Nellie. Hang on, we got us a keeper.

Peter Bloom is a singer-songwriter who learned all the right lessons from John, George, Ringo and especially Paul - not to mention Elton John and John (Five For Fighting) Ondrasik. This is simply gorgeous piano/orchestral-based pop, carried to the next level by Bloom's insightful lyrics and full-bodied melodic sensibilities.

"Let It Go" is a knockout opener, a mid-tempo plea for resolution whose jangly guitar, thrumming organ and keening string accents help Bloom build to a soaring, affecting climax that sums up everything a good ballad should be.

The orchestral flourishes that open and color the fringes of "Walls" could have been lifted from Revolver, but weren't; these are original confections using familiar music

The Orb 'Vuja De' psy
News Item
The Orb have been amongst the most fearlessly and fascinating sonic marauders on this or any other planet and Vuja De is the first single from Their new album entitled 'The Dream'. The album was made by head honcho Alex Paterson, ex-Killing Joke bassist Youth, former Dreadzone member Tim Brian and a host of guests. Although the line up may have changed over the years, the knack of hitting the spot certainly hasn't. Paterson describes the album as harking '...back to the original spirit' of their first two albums. And the new single, Vuja De, IS reminiscent of The Orb's breakthrough single Little Fluffy Clouds.

The Orb take us on a happy journey through time and space where dub and early-nineties dance are mashed up and overlaid with jaunty samples, and guest vocals from Aki Omari. The original is a good track in it's own right but it really comes into it's own as a package when you give the respective remixes a listen.

The Orb make their return in late April 2008 with the long awaited new album

"Australia's favorite DJ, DJ Nino Brown" is back with Blazin' 2008, a collection of the "biggest Hip Hop" tracks out, and I use the term 'Hip Hop' very loosely. I couldn't help but explode with laughter at the Winner Intro. It is very reminiscent of the episode of Family Guy where Brian becomes a radio host and Stewie joins him, and they play a load of generic sounding radio ads with all the accompanying sound effects. It gets off to a good start with The Way I Are, even though we all have heard it a minimum of 8 million times in the past year. Surprisingly, it doesn't wait until the end of the CD to bring an actually listenable track by (really surprising to me) Young Jeezy, which is I Luv It. BOOK TITLE: Unleash Your Inner Survivor (Your Guide to Life)

AUTHOR: Genevieve "Viva" Andrada

NUMBER OF PAGES: 260 pages

PUBLISHER: Atlas Publishing Co., Inc., Philippines

PRICE: PHP 275.00

On page 233 of the book "Survival", under a section "What other nations say about Philippines", a Hong Kong expat named Frank Cancelloni related his first impression of Filipinos as "domestic helpers or singers abroad". He even had a part-time "Filipina maid" who came to his apartment few times a week.

One day, he went home early and he was surprised to see his "Filipina maid" sitting on his desk flipping through his books from school.

"What are you doing with those books?" asked Frank in a cynical manner.

"I used to be a professor in mathematics and physics at the University of the Philippines before I came to Hong Kong", said the "Filipina maid" in a nonchalant manner.

"But why a "domestic helper" in Hong Kong?" asked Fra

Hobbyhorse Starts Burning Up The Airwaves

San Francisco Bay area, folk/rock duo Hobbyhorse's album "Break In the Clouds" has been burning up the broadcast airwaves, with stations in Canada, Australia and across the US playing their unique mix of psychedelic folk/rock. The album was also recently picked as Release of the Month September 2007 by Seldom Heard Radio.

"This wonderful album opens with the swirling sustain of an organ, lilting percussion (bodhran?) quiet, precise guitar and earthy vocals & builds from there. Traditional in one sense, quietly experimental in others, Hobbyhorse's Break in the Clouds embodies the magic that is woven in the art of folk music - and by folk music I mean music that is authentic, spirited & manifest from the love of creation rather than 'music industry' profit motive. Each song is a delight of discovery." Seldom Heard Radio
