Claire Bros foldback and the Martin RS1200's for FOH. This thing kicks. People say the the FOH is to heavy. Do you know I can rig this system on level load by myself. With the aid of a Genie lift nothing is too heavy. Even the consoles can be picked up and levelled so there really is no issue. My lighting however is a bit more modern with ETC and Strand consoles. I saw the Angels Reunited last night at South Juniors, Sydney and wasn't expected too much especially after seeing the Footy Show but was BLASTED away by their rockin performance. I was reminded of why I was an Angels fan and why I always saw them live in the 80's.They are one of, if not only, the best live Aussie band to ever go and see - so full of electricity and energy. Doc delivered true to form, except for the running around like he used to (have to account for age) and the Brewster brothers just pumping out those memorable, melodic riffs was just fantastic, to say the least. If you were, are or going to ever be an Angels fan, you've got to go and see this tour. It's not to be missed.

Has anyone else been hearing a beautiful new song called "Flicker" by the group Saucy Monky? I just heard it over here in Ireland on Today FM (Ireland's national radio) this morning and it's BEAUTIFUL! It's a love(lost) ballad, and Cynthia Catania (the lead singer on it) is kinda like Chrissie Hynde, I guess you'd say. Her voice is really soothing and sexy, I find, but it's also mature and you can feel the emotion behind it. It's my fave track off their album, which I JUST HAD TO go and buy after hearing it on the radio so much. And I'm a freakin' poor college kid - so go figure. Wow, I actually SUPPORTED an artist instead of stealing the track from online...so F**K you, RIAA!! :-) Plus, the disc was dirt-cheap. it's an 9-track mini-album EP that is selling for something ridiculous at HMV and Tower for like 9.99 EURO (that's what I got mine for anyway) and I see it's available on their site for the same price but in US dollars!

Michael Morph has been busy readying his much-anticipated album for Pure Mint, and here is the leadoff single Go Cat Go!.

Built around a mirth-making robotic voice intoning the familiar lyric from rock 'n' roll standard, 'Blue Suede Shoes', this catchy fidgety electro cut almost recalls Daft Punk in its skilful use of a simple-yet-deadly computerised vocal. With plenty of freaky noises and an absurdly infectious pitching bassline to satisfy the headz, this is a welcome return to the fray from somebody tipped by all the dance press as a DJ/producer to watch.

New World/Folk/Roots duo Bethany & Rufus along with Fulani flutist Yacouba Moumouni and Afro Haitian drummer 'Bonga' Jean-Baptiste will release a new CD, entitled "Live A Fip" on October 22, 2009. 2008 LP Say It Straight

Experimental rock band The What 4 has delivered their debut full-length album Say It Straight. With such diverse sounds on the one release, it's no wonder they have been busy playing and getting some air time on Three D Radio. The What 4 are Jo Herbert on guitar and vocals, Frank Usmiani on bass, Wil Martin on drums and Paul Handley on synthesizers. Say It Straight is full of mind blowing sounds and effects, coming together nicely to produce a very stable record.

Rolling bass starts 'Science Fiction' which kicks the album into gear, and already it's into blazing synth and a guitar lick that tops this song off nicely. In 'Highbrow' the build up is worth the wait for the swelling, throbbing heart of the song. It's here you get the first taste of Herbert's womanly vocals and they are matured and somewhat sultry.

Deriving influence from the likes of Killing Joke, Primus, The Necks, Front Line Assembly, Sonic Youth and Mars Volta, The What 4 are Adelaide's freshest experimental rock outfit to explode onto our local music scene. Having recently released their debut album, Say It Straight, Paul Handley, the band's synthesiser operator, invites Rip It Up into their world of instrumental and novel quirky sound and dynamic musical scope while pondering the concept of cover bands

"If you're a cover band, you might get some nice well paid shows at the Hyatt or whatever, but you can't sell CDs because it's not your music!" he begins. "We might play a few daggy pubs and stuff but there's a chance that people will get familiar with our music then and they can buy [it] we've always concentrated on playing originals, we're not big on cover bands and stuff!"

And original they are. Paul along with Jo, Will and Frank have some fairly specific and strategic notions for The What 4's overall effect.
