Brazilian Music*The mix of Hip Hop and Samba* Marcelo D2 was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Living in the poor suburbs, he grew up between the "favelas" and the streets of Andarai, far from postcard Rio and its rich seaside districts. The hardships of his life required him to start working at 13, and before becoming a star, Marcelo worked as a doorman, a paper boy, a cleaner, a vendor, and an office boy, among other things. His childhood friends who remained in the district were consumed by the traffickers, and one by one, D2 lost his best friends in armed confrontations.

Marcelo D2 has started his career in music about 12 years ago as the leader and singer of the band Planet Hemp. Controversial e ideologically straight to the point, Planet Hemp sold over a half million records on their release album called Usurio (1994). The albums that followed, A invaso do Sagaz Homem Fumaa, Os Ces Ladram e a Caravana no passa and MTV Live Planet Hemp made D2 a multi-platinum artist from the start of his caree

The muliti-talented Ross Middleton, plays sax, flute & hand percussion, whilst congero primero, Aykho Akrhif, will have you groovin' with his infectious rhythms on the congas. DJ Scott Pullen will take you on a melodic journey around the globe
