Brazilian Jazz at its best combining Samba, Bossa grooves with Contemporary Jazz melodies and arrangements Formed in 2005 by Brazilian Born David Chong, Tatu Rei is comprised of some Australia's premium World and Jazz musicians.

Neda Rahmani and Mark Grunden come from a decade dedicated to Brazilian batucada and Samba with all drum band Tumbarumba, which underpins the strong Rhythmic sense of Tatu Rei.

Latin and Flamenco guitarist Nathan Slater comes from a long line of musical masters, bringing to Tatu Rei a deep melodic knowledge and rhythmic Spark which accentuates young VCA graduate James Giligan's solid work on bass.

Add to this the flair and sophistication of well respected Australian Pianist and Andrew James and you have a band which is composing and performing some of the most impressive World, Jazz music within Australia.

Hackney meets Ipanema at our Xmas party featuring some of our favourite things. Ross Clarke plays between the wonderfully esoteric Hackney Colliery Band and the sublime Brazilian singing of Heidi Vogel. A superb soundclash where brass meets bossa Hackney Colliery Band, Heidi Vogel, Ross Clarke Tonight we invite 2 of our favourite artists to represent the best of England via Brass and the best of samba and bossa via vocals.

HCB and Heidi Vogel both perform at this Xmas party for the newly revived FLORIPA.

Ross Clarke provides DJ support. HCB was formed in 2008 by a group of London horn players in a Hackney kitchen.

They were inspired by New Orleans marching bands, Balkan brass and the contemporary hip hop-influenced brass coming out of the US, and decided it was time for a British take.

Keen to bring some of the UK's own brass band heritage to the table, they quickly recruited two killing drummers and strapped marching drums to their chests.

With a career spanning fifty years singing early, Elza is a remarkable singer and show woman, a true living legend. With a career spanning fifty years singing early Jazz inflected Bossa Novas in the 60s to embracing Disco and Electronic Dance music in the 90s & 00s via embodying the Samba Soul movement of the 70s, Elza is a remarkable singer and show woman, a true living legend.

For one night only at Favela, she will be cherry picking a selection of hits from her huge repertoire and presenting them sound system style over instrumental versions of the songs, selected by her DJ Ricardo, in lieu of a full band... gostoso!

There will be two sets, one at 9pm and one at 11pm, with DJs playing afterwards till 2am.
