A special program of Tasmanian shorts curated by two of our favourite

filmmakers, sisters Stella and Harriet MacDonald

Caught short's final screening for 2008 will be a rockin' Tasmanian

adventure with two of our favourite filmmakers, sisters Harriet

and Stella Macdonald, in town to present the latest, greatest, and

possibly craziest, shorts films from their wee island home.

The multi-award-winning Tasmanian cineastes, whose work ranges from kooky

animations to touching documentaries, have won the hearts of caught short

audiences over the last four years. Following on from the success of their work,

audiences. Searching high and low, the girls have selected an exciting program,

There are 12 different classes. The choice of class determines which spells your character will receive, as well as how much characteristic upgrades will cost. Smith said the family would not answer any questions, and neither would he."Our family is so very sorry for my brother's unspeakable actions. Machine Vision Do's and Dont's by Austin Weber For some people, learning how to ride a bike or swim comes naturally. For others, it’s one of the hardest things they ever do. Implementing machine vision technology can often be a similarly easy or difficult scenario. Despite numerous advances, vision systems remain somewhat intimidating. However, thanks to new software and improved components, the black art of imaging and image processing is better understood these days. More manufacturers are becoming comfortable with machine vision, thanks to lower costs, simpler designs, increased flexibility, higher reliability, more powerful algorithms and increased processing speed. End users are also benefiting from increased functionality and new capabilities, such as higher resolutions, greater field of view and better color imaging. In addition, there is less propr

Experimental rock band The What 4 has delivered their debut full-length album Say It Straight. With such diverse sounds on the one release, it's no wonder they have been busy playing and getting some air time on Three D Radio. The What 4 are Jo Herbert on guitar and vocals, Frank Usmiani on bass, Wil Martin on drums and Paul Handley on synthesizers. Say It Straight is full of mind blowing sounds and effects, coming together nicely to produce a very stable record.

In 'Highbrow' the build up is worth the wait for the swelling, throbbing heart of the song. It's here you get the first taste of Herbert's womanly vocals and they are matured and somewhat sultry.

'D Construct' and 'Robotic Chaotic' give off a huge wall of sound; a surreal canvas of music filled wi

The Hills Are In His Heart MusicDish

by Mark Kirby,

Whatever one could say about Hills Rolling, the moniker of one-man band Trey McGriff, you can't accuse him of having shallow roots. On his myspace page he lists as influences about one hundred or so bands and musicians. There are old schoolers (Otis Redding, The Beatles, Pink Floyd), new schoolers ( The Killers, My Morning Jacket), tweeners (Nirvana, Dinosaur, Jr.) electro types (The Cure, Depeche Mode) and eclecticians like him (Beastie Boys, Beck). No doubt this is in part a smart-ass commentary on the "what are your influences" question. It is also a list of people he has most likely listened to and is another way of saying that all the music he has heard, or for that matter, everything he has been through, is recorded by the brain, swished around by time, and reflected in his songs. Loves, hates, sounds, tastes, it's all in your head. Musically and lyrically, this message comes through loud and clear on his CD Sweet Tea.

With all this in his musical blender, he has come up with

Found Photoshop Contest: Truck Stop of the Future Wired Top Stories
Syndicated
For the past six years, Wired magazine's Found page has presented our best guess at what lies over the horizon, from touchscreen windshields to organ farming. Turns out, this little exercise in futurism is one of your favorite pages (as we learned recently when it took a short sabbatical). So we've decided to turn Found over to our readers — what do you think our world will look like in 10, 20, or 100 years? Each month, we'll propose a scenario. Then it's up you: Sketch out your vision, then go to wired.com/wired/found to upload your ideas, see other submissions, and vote for your favorites. We'll use the best suggestions as inspiration for a future Found page (giving full credit to the creators, of course). Well also select one (image-based submission) as our favorite, and note it in an update at the bottom of this text block. This week's assignment: Imagine the future of the truck stop. Use the Reddit widget below to submit your best Found idea and vote for your favorite among the other subm

Will Obama's copyright czar help save the music? Boycott RIAA

The short list according to the article includes a few lobbyists (who would likely be disqualified by stringent ethical guidelines) and Lawrence Lessig, who was a technology adviser to the Obama Campaign."
