Event
Thursday 26th June 2008

1 St.Helier Street Collingwood (Abbotsford Convent "Lentil as anything")

"We dance to whatever music is playing" is a documentary on the social and environmental degradation of the Phillipines since colonisation. The film shows how small comunities are working to build more sustainable futures and fighting for a better world awat from industrial destruction. Live local musicians will kick off the night and an open mic proceeds after the screening Documentary makers Sheryl Oteyza and Felipe Ruiz will open for Q&A "WE DANCE TO WHATEVER MUSIC IS PLAYING"

Once upon a time, the Philippines was a very different place. A place where the inhabitants once had a special relationship with their natural environment. But this changed as western dominance over the Philippine islands brought about a new ideology, one that people living within their natural environment are poor and that they should exploit their natural wealth.

Filipinos have the uncanny gift to be able to accept and integrate new ideologies into their culture; to be able to dance to whatever music is playing. This time aro

Choosing the right material
Blog Entry
For many aspiring artists, choosing the songs to represent the best they have to offer is not always easy. But not many have a big songs' selection.

In this scenario, I recommned you to showcase the best you feel in your heart are more appealing to attract more fans and attention. Later upload more songs when you record more and rotate them in your profile.

You can also be active on other Media Social Network to get more exposure. For instance Myspace and facebook are the largest.

The best song must go first in the top of your playlist. The one that makes the most immediate impression.

But also make sure the second song is just as good.

Another efficient way to showcase your music is to use compilation tracks. In this case if you intend to adopt this method, I highly recommend you to include one full track plus the snippets. Consequently, the final compilation will make the listener curiuos to search out more of your work.

Check out your stats in your profile. So if you can keep your visitors list

microformats /

I've had a look at the wordpress plugin.

I think I could set it up so that when an event is posted to a blog via this plugin it is recognised as an event and posted to the event listings under the correct date, categories, city, etc.

In simple terms:

The use of microformats like hcalendar could provide lots of interesting ways for people to syndicate data such as event details, locations, contact details, etc to to other sites using standard blogging software while still keeping the data in seperate machine-useable fields.

Chaos & flukes. Agreements. Law.

-----------------------------------

Agreements (or impositions) include international law, national law, notion of government, administrative regulations, business agreements, ..., relations between students and teachers... all the way to personal relations.

One of the desired features of a good agreement is its minimality. In particular this is true of the law. For instance, national law should not know the word "marriage". Marriage should be of no concern to law, and it is none of the government business. Law should care about children but should leave the issue of marriage alone.

My name is Wlodzimierz Holsztynski. I'd like to present some of my old views and ideas.

The world is nothing but chaos, pure nonsense. Subjectively, the world is nothing but waste--a waste of promises. It follows that there is no god/God, no harmony, ...

This view is actually reasonably optimistic. Chaos means flukes too, including happy flukes, lucky flukes. It is worthwhile to live for happy flukes. Life itself is a fluke, and it knows a lot of happy flukes (as well as horrible flukes--so what)?

My goal in this blog is to present certain practical (I mean socially oriented) consequences of the general view.

Relationship…for some that word stirs up fears of commitment and for others it conjures up the idea of ever lasting love. For many on the dating scene ‘ever lasting love’ is their ultimate goal but how do you find someone to go on a date with and once you do how do you go from date to relationship?

While the person you’re dating may be looking for Mr. or Mrs. Right, they may not be looking for Mr. or Mrs. Right now, meaning pull in the reins and go a little slower. But let’s start at the beginning instead of jumping straight to the finish line. Let’s get back to the basics.

To get back to basics, let’s start with a history lesson. Dating can be a scene right out of your High School memory banks. Many are haunted by memories of their first date and the nervous tension that resulted from the anticipation of it: “Did I pick the correct outfit?” “Will I smell good to them?” “Is my breath okay?” “What will

Indie Label Spotlight - Kanine Records SXSW News

A recurring theme with the folks at Kanine Records is that they love life and have a fierce passion for vinyl. And of course, they love dogs, too. The coolest thing about their website (apart from the bands, the tour schedule, the videos) is that they feature adoptable pets from all over the country. We love record labels with a heart! Kanine brought us two bands to SXSW 2009 - Chairlift and Holy Hail, and have a killer roster of bands who are touring all over this summer. Kay Quartarino, General Manager, kindly told us about the label and some of the things they have coming up. So what is Kanine Records all about?

A collection of music nerds that love collecting records (vinyl), going to shows, having beers, hanging with friends and dogs, and enjoying life. We started Kanine because we love records, saw a ton of rad bands playing right in our own neighborhood, and wanted to show everyone what great talent was playing right in their own backyard. How was your experience at SXSW 2009?

As usual we sa
