Electron stems back as far as the mid 90's, writing sound-scapes for student dance theatre, experimental theatre and independent short films. The first official CD 'Atmospherics' released in 2006 was written while travelling through Japan and Europe, and recorded in Prague. This release utilised ambiences recorded in the 'field' of which, train stations and downtown city centres were of particular interest. The forthcoming CD retains the ambient focus inherent within the music of Electron but utilises more complex drum and percussion rhythms with a tonal quality that often provides a melodic backing to subtle undulating waves of synthetic textures. For 35 years, he’s shared with them the beauty and wisdom of North Indian classical music.But octogenarian Ali Akbar Khan, the College’s founder, is a young and humble man by family standards. His father, Baba Allaudhin Khan, lived to the age of 110, after having learned thousands of centuries-old compositions called ragas, invented the first-ever notation system for the ragas, mastered a variety of Indian and Western instruments on which to play them, and served as guru and teacher to both Ali Akbar and Ravi Shankar, the pair most responsible for introducing his nation’s ancient music to the West. | | EFF.org Updates | Syndicated | In September of last year, Congress amended the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) as part of a larger bill dealing with identity theft. Unfortunately, the amendments broaden the already extensive reach of the law, and fail to clarify the most vexing question about the statute, the definition of unauthorized access. However, they do shed some light on the issue of what constitutes the necessary element of damage, showing that several cases holding that mere unauthorized viewing of data is sufficient for a CFAA claim were wrongly decided. As a result, the new amendments may give internet innovators, researchers and speakers some arguments that could keep search engines, vulnerability reporting and other legitimate uses of computer systems legal.
