Blues music and comedy; at first sight it would seem to be a strange mix. One makes you cry, the other makes you laugh. However mixing them together is just what Comedian and Harmonica player Michael Connell is planning to do in a new comedy show. "I've been doing comedy for over eight years, and playing the Harmonica for the last four, and I've always kept my comedy and music very separate," Michael explains. "However, recently I've begun to notice there's a lot of similarities between the Blues and Comedy. For me, they're both about taking something negative, like being poor or getting cheated on, and turning it into something positive like music or laughter."

Titled, appropriately enough, "The Blues", the show will run at The Street Theatre in mid September. As a comedian Michael h

SIDESHOW

Come look at the freaks

During the tumultuous and trying times of the 1930s depression, the Sideshow - a bizarre collection of anomalous 'freaks' - was a comforting reminder to 'ordinary' people that life could be worse. Penned by Bill Russell and Henry Krieger, Sideshow invites you into the lives of Daisy and Violet Hilton, conjoined twins raised by the traveling company of sideshow freaks and their cruel impresario. Join them as they struggle to come to terms with their confused identities, while experiencing the triumphs and pitfalls of fame and love.

Propelled by a memorable score of contemporary musical theatre with a Vaudevillian twist, Sideshow is a unique and wonderful show that will compel you to embrace your inner freak

Old Fitzroy Theatre, 129 Dowling St, Woolloomooloo

Two men, trapped in a prison cell as the world goes mad outside. What is their crime? What will it take to set them free?

There is a riot going on outside. Two men are locked in a cell together. Their crimes are unknown and their sentences are uncertain. The play explores the complex relationships established when two very damaged souls come to care very deeply for each other. Within the darkness of this play exists a healing force of love and honour. It is a deeply emotional play that acknowledges the roles and postures that men adopt to survive, but plunges past all that to the core of confusion, need, and loneliness that boils beneath the surface. Shaman Productions (Men, Love and the Monkeyboy, Darlinghurst Theatre and Parramatta Riverside, 2008, Love and Money, Old Fitzroy Theatre, 2007) is steadily building a reputation as a fresh, dynamic company focused on producing exciting, relevant theatrical experiences for Sydney audiences. TYLER KYTES DEBUT EP Available NOW!

Hailing from Lindsey, Ontario, 22-year-old singer/songwriter Tyler Kyte has a voice that grabs you and won't let go. Blessed with a distinct vibrato, and raspy tone reminiscent of Eddie Vedder and Michael Stipe Tyler sings with a passion and emotion rarely heard. His songs combine the classic rock of Steve Miller and Pearl Jam, with a more rootsy approach that could as easily fill a stadium as a coffee house.

Tyler began his professional career as a child in acting. At the age of 10, he landed the coveted role of Young Tommy in the cult musical Tommy at Toronto's Elgin Theatre. This was soon followed by a recurring role in the pre-school science show Guess What and co-hosting the highly successful television series Popular Mechanics For Kids for three years. Additional credits include principal and leading roles in Darcy's Wild Life, Missing, Prom Queen , The Elizabeth Smart Story, Goosebumps & Are You Afraid Of The Dark among others. New Full-Length CD by Electron - electronmusic
News Item
Electron - NuanceRelease 2009

Electron is the solo studio project of Paul Handley,

Adelaide based songwriter and keyboard player who currently plays

in The What 4 and electronic duo Beltane. Electron stems back

as far as the mid 90's, writing sound-scapes for student

dance theatre, experimental theatre and independent short films. The

first official CD 'Atmospherics' released in 2006 was written while

travelling through Japan and Europe, and recorded in Prague. This

release utilised ambiences recorded in the 'field' of which, train

stations and downtown city centres were of particular interest.

The forthcoming CD retains the ambient focus inherent

within the music of Electron but utilises more complex drum and

percussion rhythms with a tonal quality that often provides a melodic

backing to subtle undulating waves of synthetic textures.
