A musical comedy show featuring comedian Michael Connell Comedians Michael Connell, Jay Sullivan, Tom Gibson, & The Stevenson Experience Guitarist Jonno Zilber THE BLUES - A musical comedy show featuring Michael Connell

Blues music and comedy; at first sight it would seem to be a strange mix. One makes you cry, the other makes you laugh. However mixing them together is just what Comedian and Harmonica player Michael Connell is planning to do in a new comedy show. "I've been doing comedy for over eight years, and playing the Harmonica for the last four, and I've always kept my comedy and music very separate," Michael explains. "However, recently I've begun to notice there's a lot of similarities between the Blues and Comedy. For me, they're both about taking something negative, like being poor or getting cheated on, and turning it into something positive like music or laughter."

Titled, appropriately enough, "The Blues", the show will run at The Street Theatre in mid September. As a comedian Michael h

Their songs are inspired by Cat Stevens, James Taylor, and Simon & Garfunkel - music that overflows with melody, harmony and lyrical honesty. James, the original leaf, gathered the group together to prepare and record their self-titled debut album, which will be released later in 2009. The Tealeaves' songs appeal to music-lovers of all ages, evidenced by the growing fan-base they have amassed in such a short period of time. If you love hearing an honest story wrapped up in 3-part harmonies, warm guitars, piano, violins, accordions, and a beat you can tap your feet to, then you'll feel right at home with The Tealeaves.

The Broadway Tony Award-winner belts out the big roadway showstoppers and cool jazz standards Lillias White A Tribute to the music of Cy Coleman

"Lillias White is a singer who makes the most challenging vocal feats look almost easy." - New York Times

The term "living legend" is oft-overused, but occasionally its use is well and truly justified. Such is the case with Lillias White. Sydney Opera House is proud to host her first appearance on a Sydney stage since her sold-out 2005 tour, with three concerts only in The Playhouse.

"She can hold a note longer than Carmen McRae and sounds like a cross-pollination of Sara Vaughan and Dinah Washington" - Rex Reed

Lillias will be paying tribute to the great Cy Coleman, writer of hit musicals Sweet Charity, Barnum, Little Me and The Life, plus a pile of amazing jazz standards including Witchcraft.

After winning an Emmie, a Tony and an Obie on stage and TV (and our hearts on Sesame Street!) her powerful renditions of classic songs prove why she has
