Music is the language of the soul, and Myles speaks loud and clear (8pistas Magazine, Spain)

Great sound with a modern twist, we're going to hear a lot more of this guy (Peter Young - Jazz FM)

Soul for grown-ups! Mellow, thoughtful, intense and really cool, all at once. An album all this good would be one of the albums of the year (Echoes Magazine)

The soul singer and songwriter based in England known as Myles Sanko released his debut EP record album, titled, "Born in Black and White," to broad critical and fan acclaim in 2013. The album consists of seven original funk and soul tracks written and performed by Myles, himself, for a total playing time of approximately 22 minutes. The record is composed and played in the style of soul greats such as Bill Withers, Otis Redding, Al Green and James Brown, all of whom Myles names openly and proudly as his main musical influences. A stop-to-finish work of deep grooves and jazzy musical perfection, "Born in Black and White" is certain to be the first in a long line of remarkable and wonderful solo releases from Myles to come.

SASHA (UK) Garden Party

The name Sasha needs little introduction ? and now the pioneering DJ is headed back to Australia for Future Music this November!
Live: Sasha

The name Sasha needs little introduction ? and now the pioneering DJ is headed back to Australia for Future Music this November!

He?s the DJ icon fans crowned ?Son Of God?. Madonna and The Chemical Brothers wanted remixes. He?s held residencies at NYC?s Twilo, and newer clubs like Ibiza?s We Love... Sundays. The name Sasha needs little introduction ? and now the pioneering DJ is headed back to Australia for Future Music this November!

?One of the world's original clubland superstars? ? Time Out

Currently in the studio working on brand new tunes and with a Kwabs remix due soon via Asylum Records, the Grammy-nominated, Welsh-born producer needs little introduction. Dance lovers have voted him into nearly every top 10 of DJ Mag?s annual poll since 1997, his peerless command of the dancefloor breaking boundaries over three decades now. In August, Sasha had clubbers under his spell at Randall Island?s Electric Zoo festival (US), while future dates include Benidorm (Spain) and ADE (Amsterdam) come October... all before making his way down under.

The problem at the time was, while I might have the equivalent of a Ph.D in enterprise level Microsoft Servers and Databases, my knowledge of Linux was non-existent.Anyway, I offered to host a forum using some opensource .NET forum software on a Windows Server with Microsoft SQL database. Welcome to this new pod and congratulations !

I'll register and participate, for sure.

Well done! Well done indeed! Thank you for your persistence, time and effort.

Pretty good idea. I'll register and see where it goes. But you might not interest core-dev. I think they will answer you they already have IRC and github. Try to talk about it on
#diaspora IRC, however.

Nice one! And awesome that you taught yourself Linux skills in the process! Impprtant stuff in the IT work market.

Discourse is nice. Will follow the forum at least iniatilly, hope it kicks off!

And don't worry if npt everyone joins - not everyone is on the mailing lists or loomio.

But what would be awesome would be to have discourse type groups inside diaspora, for easy discussion. Now old topics are just too hard to find from all 'the other noise'. If posts could also be targeted to a group with forum like view, that would cut out the need for a forum.

Nice work thank you very much! Did you now understand why the people prefer a linuxinfrastructure? I have no knowledege about both on servers and you now know both of it. So which sytem you personaly now prefer on servers?

Thank you, great work! :)

good job & big thanks!

congrats on getting the site up and running, and the path you chose to take to get there! learning new skills is always a good thing, and perhaps it'll serve you well in your professional life also. long ago i made a willful choice to be a unix admin and try to avoid windows administration, so i can't help but be happy you made the choice to start working with *nix systems. (so my happiness a bit selfish, of course. but i also chose it because i thought it was more interesting/better - and also probably because i'm a bit of a contrarian, looking for outsider options. : )

Good action : actually when knowing Linux you will understand Windows better!. You run Hyper v? that is plain Linux . Now you are an expert : what are the demand sof a simple pod server ? How much bandwidth does it need ?

I cannot login with diaspora account. Why? (I think it would be very better if we have the same nicknames here and there, and the accounts as well).

@Linuxnoob - It was very strange using only a command line to do everything!! I think that's what took the most getting used to. I'm liking it though. Just the fact that the OS doesn't require 80% of the hardware resources is simply amazing.

@Frank Kooistra - I used to run HyperV but to be honest, I've been using VMware for so many years now, I much prefer it for enterprise scale virtualisation. And even for personal scale too using VMware Workstation!

@Čaj Och - Diaspora has no auth API to support such a feature I'm afraid :(

@Everyone - Thanks for the positive feedback. The forum will only be as good as the content contained inside it.

I'm hoping it becomes a good resource for podmins as it's very hard to search old posts inside Diaspora. Plus if you have a problem with your pod you can't get on your Diaspora! I'm also hoping it will work well alongside the IRC channel(s) as sometimes there is not always someone available in IRC at the same time as the person asking the question, and the question can then sometimes get lost.

Plus too, the forum could be used for helping new Diaspora users.

Much like Diaspora itself, the forum is community run - so if you can help out in any way, just shout!!

Let's see where we can take it :)

This is really nice! Thank you!

And I'm seriously loving
#Discourse!

It's super slick and fast as anything. Quite light weight too.

And to think.. I considered running a forum using YAF.NET on a Windows Server.

/me hangs his head in shame at the very thought of it

We all make mistakes, the important part is to draw the right conclusions and move on. As you have. ;)

Seriously though, I really admire the fact that you had jumped right into unknown territory and gained the skills needed to host the forum on free software. Most people would go the easy route. Chapeau bas!

@Rich**: You can make that API, or suggest it at least. .)

Thank you ! And many more thank you if you learned the linux server only to support the Diaspora* community!

May I suggest a l10n ? When this forum is a great promising forum, it would be even greater when other languages friendly ;-) About the anticipated API to login with our D* credentials, I suppose it could be easier to learn about the firefox persona ?

Of course, my suggestion may be not well received, I know. So i only suggest. Anyway, it's a fine job, serving the community. And you have all my respect !

Diaspora ForumAround six months ago I offered to host a Diaspora Forum.

The idea was to provide a better support platform for podmins (especially new ones) and potentially to provide support for new users too.

I work in I.T. and have access to a large (Microsoft server) infrastructure. The problem at the time was, while I might have the equivalent of a Ph.D in enterprise level Microsoft Servers and Databases, my knowledge of Linux was non-existent.

Anyway, I offered to host a forum using some opensource .NET forum software on a Windows Server with Microsoft SQL database. This was naturally not too well received by the community. Much discussion was had both on D* and on Loomio at https://www.loomio.org/d/Qwiq2MHD/

Quite a few people at the time suggested #Discourse but I had no knowledge of Linux and its inner workings, I had never used apache or nginx, nor did I have a single linux based server.

I decided to do something about it and six months later I now know a lot about Linux, I rent three linux servers in a data centre and I run two different Diaspora pods :)

More importantly, with the help of some of the #Diaspora community members we are now able to present to you, the Diaspora forum, running on Discourse!

https://diasporaforum.org/

(and it's even running https!)

As you'll see, it's very empty at the moment, but that's because it's only been running for three days and it is very much a work in progress.

We welcome you to create an account, volunteer yourself for helping out and please make some suggestions for improvements :)

Rollin' Stoned
Friday 15th August 2014
The Halfmoon, 93 Lower Richmond Road, Putney London
A typical two hour show includes not only all the classic crowd pleasing hits, but is spiced with enough eclectic selections from the deeper recesses of Stones Album archives to satisfy the most demanding of ?Buffs?, all performed with the same vibrantly authentic attack and raw energy that characterised the original Stones shows in their prime.

For those who witnessed the Stones - Brian Jones et al - in their hey Day, this is a chance to revisit lost youth, for the rest of you, now?s your chance to see what all the fuss was about.

Expect a minimum two hour show with rockin' all the way and spectacular costume changes. They have been described by The Times as 'better than the real thing' and have been revered by both Stones fans for their authenticity and the real Stones who booked them for the band's birthday.
